When an old Stalker cast iron pump failed on Petuna Endeavour in the Southern Ocean, there was an urgent requirement for some fast action. The failed pump was replaced by an Aussie GMP model B3XR-A 5.5kw 3-in. NiAl bronze pump that fitted into the application area like a glove.The pump produces 1400 lpm flow and offers a maximum head of up to 26m. 65,000 Wells will be Drilled in 2019

Rystad Energy forecasts that the number of onshore and offshore oil and gas wells drilled globally will increase to around 65,000 in 2019.Activity levels are then projected to remain around this level through 2023, the energy research and business intelligence company said.Rystad Energy also forecasts that more than 1 million kilometers of new oil and gas wells will be drilled over the next five years. The collective depth of these wells is the equivalent of 25 times around the equator – or 2.5 times the distance to the moon.As the global oil and gas industry gets back into high gear – thanks in no small part to higher commodity prices – demand for steel is set to increase.

Cruise Ship Uses Boat Mooring Magnets

High power permanent magnets are now being used by the Silver Cloud when deploying boats for passenger excursions. The magnets, supplied by Miko Marine of Norway, each have a holding power of 500 kg and are being used by the boat crews to create additional mooring points on the hull of the ship. Polar Cruise Deploys Mooring Magnets
