Seeing Forever: Lockhead Martin's Gyrocam

Lockheed Martin recently completed successful demonstrations of its Gyrocam 15-inch Dual Sensor & 15-inch Triple Sensor to the Navy. The demonstration was conducted as part of a cooperative research and development effort with the Stiletto Maritime Demonstration Program. That program was established to help accelerate the delivery of innovative maritime technologies across all armed services. During the demonstration in Virginia Beach, Va., U.S. Navy Expeditionary Combat Command (NECC) sailors used the 15-inch gyro-stabilized optical sensors in both day and night exercises. After successfully tracking items of interest and acquiring on-the-move, high-resolution electro-optical and thermal video, end-users provided immediate feedback on the technology.

SpotterRF Radar Selected by DOD for Capability Demo

SpotterRF was one of 15 industry partners selected to participate in a Department of Defense (DOD) demonstration seeking cutting edge technologies with high potential of improving the warfighter's mission effectiveness and survivability. The Stiletto Maritime Demonstration Program conducted its first capability demonstration, Jan. 14-27, 2013 for the Navy Expeditionary Combat Command (NECC) off the coast of Virginia Beach, VA. This capability demonstration allowed SpotterRF to receive immediate feedback on the radar system as NECC Sailors observed the new technology in a realistic military maritime environment. During the course of the demonstration several scenarios were run in which vessels ranging from a jet ski to an 11 meter RHIB traveled different paths into and around the Harbor.

Stiletto Maritime Demonstration Program hosts Capability Demonstration

The Stiletto Maritime Demonstration Program conducted its first Capability Demonstration, Jan. 14-27. The initial demonstration was hosted for the Navy Expeditionary Combat Command (NECC) off the Virginia coast near the Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek, Fort Story in Virginia Beach, Va. The Capability Demonstration provided NECC Sailors an opportunity to observe new technologies developed by industry in a realistic military maritime environment. Stiletto Craft Trials Assessed by NECC

The Stiletto Maritime Demonstration Program has conducted its first capability demonstration for the Navy Expeditionary Combat Command (NECC). The Stiletto is a unique, maritime demonstration craft developed by the Defense Department to test littoral warfare concepts. Engineers and technicians with specialized expertise in maritime technology from Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Carderock's Norfolk detachment maintain and operate the 88-foot-long, composite-bodied, m-shaped vessel.

No Hands ISR Project Involves US/Japan Firms

MSHIP Co., a San Diego naval design firm joins with Uemura Seisakusyo Co., Ltd. of Japan on the project. MSHIP has designed the next generation high-speed military platform — Stiletto ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance) — which will focus on future warfare with extensive use of unmanned systems. The Stiletto ISR, a mothership for unmanned systems, will offer easy launch, support and retrieval of unmanned vehicles. MSHIP's products, including the Stiletto ISR, received great response at the 2012 Japan International Aerospace Exhibition.

When vessel owners and operators opt to bite the bullet and invest millions of dollars into a new workboat, it is reasonable to assume that they will start shopping with the expectation of procuring the most boat that their Limited money can buy. Capital investments of this magnitude are often justified solely upon the premise that a new custom-designed vessel will have more functionality and thus greater revenue generating capability. Why buy a workboat unless it can pay for itself?

M Ship’s Stiletto Nabs Smugglers

The Pentagon’s high-speed, shallow-draft “Stiletto” ship, designed and built by M Ship Co., LLC, completed a successful 6,000 nautical-mile deployment on a drug interdiction and apprehension mission in the waters off , the and the . The deployment was capped off by a dramatic, high-speed chase of a “go-fast” boat in shallow waters near the coast that resulted in the apprehension of three suspected smugglers. Even though the Stiletto was officially classified as a demonstrator, the Department of Defense post-deployment report is expected to confirm that the revolutionary vessel reduced “illicit trafficking sanctuaries,” and proved its value as an “affordable, high-speed, shallow-draft craft,” according to the author of the report, Capt.

M Ship Gets $6M Contract

M Ship Co. has been awarded a $6 million contract to build the M80 Stiletto, an advanced technology demonstration craft. It will be used by the Department of Defense to validate high speed, smooth ride quality and stealth characteristics of the company’s patented M-hull design and explore the scalability of dynamic lift technology. The lightweight carbon fiber composite craft will demonstrate special operation capabilities by launching and retrieving an 11-meter RIB, a 36-foot auxiliary craft for Navy Special Forces. M Ship Co. Files Patent Infringement Suit

M Ship Co. filed a patent infringement lawsuit against ICE Marine Ltd., a UK company, in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, to enforce patent rights covering its M-hull boat technology. The lawsuit alleges that ICE Marine has infringed M Ship Co.’s patent for its M-Shaped Boat Hull and has induced others to infringe the patent in the U.S. The M-hull, a non-conventional air entrapment hull design, was invented by M Ship Co.’s founders, Chuck Robinson and Bill Burns. M Ship Co. recently completed its delivery of the military demonstrator, Stiletto, an 80-ft. twin M-hull design. M Ship Co.’s lead counsel in the lawsuit is Richard A. M Ship Co. Announces Navy Contract

M Ship Co recently announced the U.S. Navy's Office of Naval Research has awarded the firm a $750,000 contract, including options, to validate the potential of the innovative M-hull technology. The Navy Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) contract calls for tank testing and sea trials for the M-hull technology, and the development of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) tools for quantifying the hull's performance. Earlier this month, M Ship Co. delivered the M 80 Stiletto, an 88-foot vessel that uses the patented M-hull technology. M Ship Co. built the M 80 Stiletto for the Pentagon's Office of Force Transformation (OFT) as part of the OFT's Wolf PAC Distributed Operations Experiment, conducted in association with USSOCOM.

M. Ship Launches Experimental Vessel

M. Ship Co. launched the M80 Stiletto, designed as an operational experiment for the Pentagon's Office of Force Transformation (OFT) and an example of the next generation of military vessels that combines new materials (carbon fiber), with a networked architecture and a revolutionary hull. The M80 Stiletto initiative is part of OFT's Wolf PAC Distributed Operations Experiment, conducted in association with USSOCOM, to explore command and control of geographically dispersed, but networked, autonomous and semi-autonomous military forces. This new concept of operations by the Department of Defense is in response to diffuse threats that are perceived as emerging in the future.
