Telemar Wins 50-vessel Service Deal with Fairplay Towage

Marlink subsidiary Telemar said it signed a five-year service maintenance deal with Fairplay Towage to deliver bridge maintenance services across 50 of the company’s port and ocean tugs in Germany, Holland and Belgium.The contracts will consolidate service of critical bridge navigation equipment to a single provider, and scheduled service will be planned to agreed timeframes.The contract includes managing GMDSS declarations, annual radio survey, annual radar inspection, exchange of reserve-power batteries for GMDSS and SART/EPIRB/GMDSS handheld batteries.

DP World, NIIF Win Bid at Mumbai's JNPT

Global port operator DP World said its joint venture (JV) with National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF)  has won the bid to build a Free Trade Warehousing Zone (FTWZ) at Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT)  Mumbai for USD 78 million."Hindustan Infralog Private Limited (HIPL), a joint venture between DP World (65%) and the NIIF (35%), has won the bid to develop and operate the FTWZ at India’s largest container gateway – JNPT for $78mn," said a press statement from the port operator.HIPL is the recently created investment vehicle between DP World and NIIF to invest up to USD 3 billion in ports, logistics and related sectors across the country.

GE Propulsion for Chilean Navy Icebreaker

GE’s Marine Solutions was chosen by ASMAR Shipyards to provide the complete scope of an integrated marine propulsion system for the Chilean Navy’s new Antarctic icebreaking Polar Class vessel. It will replace the retired icebreaker to continue the navy’s Antarctic expedition for search and rescue missions, scientific research, logistic support and resupplying bases in the Chilean Antarctic Territory. The 110-meter long vessel will have GE’s full marine propulsion system to power and propel the vessel

APM Terminals Inland Services Expands in Pune, India

APM Terminals Inland Services inaugurated its new state-of-the-art Inland Container Depot and supply chain solutions facility designed to serve one of India’s fastest-growing hubs for industrial development and manufacturing in the Pune district in Maharashtra state. The new facility, which is over 12 acres in area, can handle more than 60,000 containers annually. Services include Customs clearance, bonded and non-bonded warehousing, empty container acceptance, transportation solutions and container repairs which are typically offered near ports.The facility is located 150 kilometers inland from Mumbai. Xodus, Green Marine Partner on Offshore Renewables

Xodus Group and Green Marine are partnering to provide an integrated service for the maintenance of offshore renewable assets. The partners will utilise Xodus’ integrity management software XAMIN to capture and monitor live data from offshore marine assets, while Green Marine will offer physical offshore inspection and repair services. The one-stop solution aims to streamline an asset’s performance, providing efficiencies and preventing downtime, in particular targeting offshore wind, tidal and wave energy devices, cabling and associated infrastructure. Evac Systems Ordered for ‘Global Class’ Cruise Ships

German shipyard MV WERFTEN, a wholly owned subsidiary of Genting Hong Kong, said it will install the Evac Complete Cleantech Solution on board two new Global Class ships for Asia-Pacific cruise line Star Cruises. The contract also covers two optional cruise vessels of the same class in the future. Star Cruises’ Global Class vessels are specifically designed for the growing Asian market. Delivery of the two 201,000 GT vessels is scheduled for 2020 and 2021. At over 340 meters long, the new vessels will be the largest ever built at the shipyards of MV WERFTEN.

MAN Diesel & Turbo Sverige AB, a wholly owned subsidiary of MAN Diesel & Turbo SE (part of MAN and Volkswagen Group), acquires the marine fuel gas supply system (FGSS) business from the Sweden based Cryo AB, part of the Linde Engineering Division and a manufacturer of cryogenic equipment for the storage, distribution and handling of liquefied gases. New Barge Fleeting and Switching Operation in Cairo Harbor

American River Transportation Company (ARTCO), a subsidiary of Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM), today announced plans to launch new barge fleeting and switching operations in the Cairo, Illinois, harbor starting January 1, 2016. The Cairo harbor is a vital hub in the inland waterway supply chain. The new operation will be based in Wickliffe, Kentucky, and will provide fleeting and switching operations from mile 948 on the Lower Mississippi River to mile 29 on the Upper Mississippi and mile 974 on the Ohio River. “ARTCO is the only company in the inland waterway system that can provide a self-contained supply chain to our customers, which allows us to provide better, more efficient and cost-effective service,” said Jason Porter, vice president, ARTCO operations.

Thuraya Launches Broadband Satellite Terminal

Thuraya Telecommunications, a Mobile Satellite Services (MSS) operator, said it has further extended its maritime product portfolio with the launch of Atlas IP, a feature-rich broadband satellite terminal. Thuraya Atlas IP is the second maritime-specific product launched by Thuraya in 2014 and is designed to complement the Thuraya Orion IP broadband terminal by offering a fully-featured voice and data product with additional functionality built in. Designed and manufactured for Thuraya by Addvalue of Singapore, Thuraya Atlas IP is capable of standard IP data transfer at rates up to 444kbps and asymmetric streaming capability of 16kbps-384kbps. The Agreement will allow Solas to build a 2,000-square-metre Service Centre for Life Boats, Life Rafts and Fire Fighting & Life Saving Appliances in ASRY.
