Windship Technology Unveils Emissions-free Ship Design

British company Windship Technology has unveiled a whole-ship solution to tackle CO2 emissions from ships, launching its emissions-free bulk carrier and tanker designs alongside an investment partnership with classification society DNV.Starting from a clean drawing board, Technical Director Simon Rogers and his design team developed and tested at the Wolfson Unit in Southampton the company’s patented high performance, highly efficient triple-wing rig. The container shipping liner Ocean Network Express (ONE) has announced its plans to implement XVELA, the world’s first cloud-based collaborative network for ocean carriers and terminal operators, which enhances operational efficiency by ensuring real-time insights and control via a platform of connected systems.The implementation will reinforce ONE’s commitment to its core values of Quality, Reliability, Innovation and Customer Satisfaction, said the Japanese container shipping company that is headquartered in Tokyo and Singapore.In addition, ONE will upgrade its existing stowage planning tool with the advanced StowMan Stowage solution by Navis, which is fully integrated with XVELA.

MacGregor Launches Breakbulk Optimizer

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has introduced a new breakbulk cargo stowage solution, the Breakbulk Optimizer, which enables operators to rapidly and optimally plan the stowage of many different cargoes."The MacGregor Breakbulk Optimizer is the first automated, cloud-based application for the optimized stowage of breakbulk and general cargoes," said Magnus Sjöberg, Senior Vice President, Cargo Handling, MacGregor. Ocean Safety to Supply Complete RNLI Liferaft Fleet

U.K. independent marine safety equipment supplier Ocean Safety was selected by the RNLI to carry out a wide reaching replacement program for all their current liferafts in an operation that will take up to three years. The Ocean Safety ISO liferaft will become the liferaft of choice on every RNLI all weather lifeboat, following a rigorous selection program in which Ocean Safety had to produce innovative solutions to the RNLI’s requirements to exceed their own high safety standards for their fleet of vessels.
