Boskalis Completes Acquisition of STRABAG Wasserbau

Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. (Boskalis) has concluded the acquisition of the dredging activities and assets of STRABAG Wasserbau GmbH. The transaction price of EUR 70 million has been financed from Boskalis' own cash. With the transaction Boskalis acquires the equipment, personnel and relevant contracts of STRABAG Wasserbau. The most important assets are two young trailing suction hopper dredgers with a capacity of 7,350 m3 each, a large modern backhoe dredger and four self-propelled barges. Through this acquisition, Boskalis strengthens its home market position in Germany where it recently acquired a contract together with Züblin AG from the Bremen port authority for the construction of a transshipment terminal for the offshore wind sector in Bremerhaven.

Boskalis Adds Dredging Assets in Germany

Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. (Boskalis) has reached a heads of agreement with STRABAG SE for the acquisition of the dredging activities and assets of STRABAG Wasserbau GmbH, formerly known as Möbius Wasserbau. STRABAG Wasserbau, based in Hamburg, is a market leader in the German dredging sector With an annual turnover of approximately EUR 50 million. The agreed transaction price is EUR 70 million, will be financed from the company's own cash flow. The transaction is limited to acquiring the equipment, personnel plus a couple of maintenance contracts. According to Boskalis, the most important assets are two young shallow draft trailing suction hopper dredgers with a capacity of 7,350 m3 each, a large modern backhoe dredger and four self-propelled barges.

Bilfinger Wants Speedy Sale Of Construction Unit

German engineering and services group Bilfinger aims to sell its civil engineering division quickly and, at the same time, is open to acquisitions abroad, the chief executive of the company was quoted as saying on Saturday. The company is accepting expressions of interest and preparing the unit for sale, CEO Roland Koch told newspaper Die Welt, confirming a story published by Reuters on Friday. "We just launched the process," he said. Bilfinger wants to wean itself off a business model vulnerable to price wars in the building sector and focus on providing higher-margin engineering and services for industrial facilities, power plants and real estate. The company said earlier in May that it aimed to exit certain parts of its construction activities.

Sietas shipyard hands over second suction dredger christened 'Eke Möbius' to Josef Möbius Bau-GmbH in Hamburg. The Eke Möbius is 118.47 metres long with a displacement of 6.8 metres and has four diesel engines that together develop 6,760 kW. It can dredge at a depth of up to 35 metres.
