AVEVA Upgrades Structural Steel Software

AVEVA has released new enhancements to its AVEVA Bocad product range for structural steel detailing software. AVEVA Bocad features a plate and bar nesting capability for more efficient planning and use of materials, the developer said. An enhanced weld numbering and traceability feature provides efficient increased fabrication efficiency, design quality assurance and improved structural integrity maintenance. In addition, elements of AVEVA Bocad can now be brought into AVEVA Marine production tools to fabricate detailed ship and offshore designs.

AVEVA to Acquire FabTrol Systems

AVEVA Group plc announces that it has agreed to acquire FabTrol Systems, Inc. from the Dowco Group of Companies the acquisition is expected to complete by Friday 26 June 2015. FabTrol is a software business, headquartered in Eugene, Oregon with operations in North America and the United Kingdom, providing fabrication management software to the steel fabrication industry. The consideration of $6.5 million has been funded through AVEVA's existing cash resources. The acquisition is expected to be earnings enhancing in FY16. The combination of the FabTrol software together with AVEVA Everything3D which is already integrated with AVEVA Bocad structural steel detailing software, creates a powerful design, detailing and fabrication solution.

New AVEVA Bocad Software Offers 30-40 Percent Project Savings

AVEVA has announced  its release of new products and improvements in its AVEVA Bocad range of structural steel detailing software. The new products will increase structural detailing capability and enable more design standardization and automation. Together, by enabling more effective decision-making and increasing project transparency, these new features offer potential project time and cost savings of up to 30-40 percent. In addition, AVEVA Bocad has benefited from better integration with AVEVA’s 3D design products - AVEVA Everything3D, AVEVA PDMS and AVEVA Outfitting. Engineering contractors and fabricators working in the Process Plant and Marine industries will therefore be able to achieve greater productivity and project quality.

Aveva: New Paper on Integrated Steelwork and 3D Plant Design

Aveva released ‘Bolting it all together,’ the latest in its series of business papers, which discusses how integrating structural steelwork and plant layout design can reduce project cost, risk and delivery time. The paper explores the considerable business advantage that EPCs and Shipbuilders, working on plant/offshore projects, can gain by using a specialized steelwork application that can be used efficiently within a plant design solution to support close, collaborative working through an entire design and construction project.
