Harvey Gulf Inks Deal With Trinity Offshore

In a contract worth $110 million, Trinity to build two dual fuel LNG-powered PSV’s for Harvey Gulf. Wartsila to supply integrated system that includes the dual-fuel machinery. 7 October 2011: Harvey Gulf International Marine has signed a deal with Trinity Offshore which will eventually produce the first two dual fuel LNG-powered offshore  vessels under U.S. flag. The deal, reportedly worth at least $110 million, calls for the delivery of the first vessel in November 2013 with the second hull to follow about 4 months later. The vessels will be built in Trinity’s Gulfport location. Initially, Signal International was  the frontrunner for the contract, but ultimately, Harvey Gulf chose Trinity.

Wärtsilä to Equip First U.S. LNG OSV

Wärtsilä, the marine industry’s leading gas solutions provider, will deliver an integrated propulsion system based on the use of LNG for two offshore support vessels for operation in the Gulf of Mexico. This is the first time U.S. flagged offshore supply vessels will run on clean and efficient LNG, which offers operational savings and environmental benefits. Wärtsilä has been awarded a contract in October 2011 to supply liquefied natural gas (LNG) propulsion equipment for two advanced offshore supply vessels owned by Harvey Gulf International Marine.

STX Marine Promotes Carroll

STX Marine Inc. announced that Mike Carroll has been promoted to the position of Vice President – Operations for the Houston office.  He has been with the company for 10 years and has been instrumental in expanding the capabilities and profile of the company in the US and will be responsible for the further success and development of the office.  He has considerable experience in managing the design of a wide range of complex vessels and marine structures and is active in working with the USCG and Classification Societies in the interpretation of international rules/regulations for vessels in the Jones Act sector.  Mike has Bachelors of Technology Degree and Diploma of Naval Architecture from Memorial University in Newfoundland.

Harvey Gulf to Construct First US-Flagged LNGs

On July 28, 2011, Harvey Gulf International Marine’s Board of Directors approved the construction of the first United States-flagged LNG Offshore Supply Vessels. Harvey Gulf International Marine’s Chairman & CEO Shane J. Guidry stated that this is another example of Harvey Gulf’s commitment to meet its clients' future needs. Guidry also said that a contract will be awarded to a US shipyard on or before August 28, 2011. The SV310DF vessels, designed by STX Marine Inc., will be dual-fuel with LNG capacity for seven days with three engines at full RPM.
