Collaboration on Swimming Robots for Subsea Maintenance
NTNU spin-off company Eelume collaborates with Kongsberg Maritime and Statoil to develop swimming robots for subsea inspection and light intervention. Kongsberg Maritime and Statoil have signed an agreement with Eelume, a NTNU spin-off company, to accelerate new technology that will significantly reduce costs related to subsea inspection, maintenance and repair operations. Ezra Wins UK North Sea Contracts
Offshore service provider Ezra Holdings has announced that subsea division, EMAS AMC, has won global contracts values at over $115m including options, reports Business Times. These contracts include one for rigid pipe lay for the Aviat field development in the UK North Sea; engineering and offshore support work in West Africa for an oil major which will be undertaken together with Ezra's subsidiary company, EMAS Offshore Limited. Tidewater Inc. announced today that Latif Benhaddad has joined Tidewater as Vice President of Engineering. Benhaddad reports to Tidewater's Chief Operating Officer, Jeff Gorski, and is responsible for global engineering technical services, including fleet new build programs and fleet maintenance and repair. Fugro Report Mixed Fortunes in First Half 2014
Fugro report first half-year revenue of EUR 1,186.9 million compared to EUR 1,167.9 million in first half of 2013. Year-on-year revenue growth at constant currencies of 6.2% or 7.9% excluding multi-client seismic surveys. Non-cash impairments and one-off write-offs of EUR 346.6 million due to weak results and the more challenging oil and gas market outlook. This was mostly related to the Geoscience division. EBIT margin, excluding non-cash impairments and one-off write-offs, was 2.1% which is significantly below last year. This was mainly due to poor performance across all divisions in the first quarter and continued losses in the Geoscience division in the first half year.
Aubin Expands Services in Middle East
Offshore chemical engineering specialist Aubin has grown its presence in the Middle East, projecting nearly £3million worth of sales in the region this year as well as the introduction of local manufacturing. The Aberdeenshire-based company specializes in chemical solutions for the oil and gas industry, including cement and stimulation additives. With the majority of its global sales going to the Middle East, Aubin recently formed a partnership with an Abu Dhabi-based company to facilitate regional manufacturing. Aubin has recently completed a contract worth more than £400,000 for the provision of cement additives to a global operator in Iraq, and the successful conclusion has secured an additional contract to supply £1.25 million by the end of the year.

Mermaid Maritime's subsidiary Subtech Ltd. has been awarded a subsea services contract with Bibby Offshore Limited for services in the North Sea. This contract will utilize the DP2 Dive Support Vessel ‘Mermaid Endurer’ for inspection, repair and maintenance services & light construction intervention. The contract is scheduled to commence in the second calendar quarter of 2014 for a term ending in the fourth calendar quarter of 2014, with options for extension subject to mutual agreement.
Ezra Subsea Wins Valuable EPCI Norwegian Sea Contract
Ezra Holdings' subsea division EMAS AMC, wins US$ 75 million Statoil subsea engineering, procurement & offshore construction (EPCI) contract. The contract is for subsea work on Statoil's Smørbukk South Extension project in the Norwegian Sea. Discovered in 1985, the Smørbukk South Extension holds estimated recoverable reserves of 16.5 million barrels of oil equivalent, and will be developed with a new subsea template connected to existing infrastructure in the area. The contract scope includes the engineering, procurement, construction and installation of flexible flowlines, tie-in spools, manifold and umbilical as well as associated abandonment and removal activities. The joint venture company, OneSubsea, is to manufacture and develop products, systems and services for the subsea oil and gas market. This new company intends to offer a step change in reservoir recovery for the subsea oil and gas industry through integration and optimization of the entire production system over the life of the field. The integration of the production system will be accomplished by combining superior reservoir knowledge and wellbore technologies, with industry leading subsea technologies, all together delivering enhanced productivity, reliability and integrity. Cameron and Schlumberger have 60/40 ownership of the joint venture, respectively, and the transaction is subject to regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions.
China Subsea Contract for Technip
Technip in a consortium with Offshore Oil Engineering Co. Ltd (COOEC) wins a substantial subsea contract in China. The contract, value €200 million (Technip share: around €110 million) was awarded by China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) Deepwater Development Limited is for the South China Sea deepwater gas development project in the Panyu field, located about 150 kilometers South of Hong Kong. The development consists in a new subsea production system with six wells and its associated control system tied up to a new central processing platform. The contract covers the supply and installation of a 10” and a 6” diameter clad-lined pipelines, of steel tube umbilicals*, and associated equipments.
Vietnam Offshore Contract for EMAS AMC
EMAS AMC contracted by Petroleum Technical Services Corporation Mechanical and Construction to provide facilities for the Dua sub-sea field. Singapore-based EMAS AMC, the subsea division of EMAS, a leading global offshore contractor and provider of integrated offshore solutions to the oil and gas (O&G) industry, has been awarded a contract from Petroleum Technical Services Corporation Mechanical and Construction (PTSC M&C) for the transportation and installation of facilities for the Dua subsea field, which will be developed as a subsea tie-back to the Chim Sao Field in offshore Vietnam. The contract value is approximately US$47-million and will commence in the third quarter of 2012.

Technip Awarded a Large Subsea Installation Contract in Australia
Technip has been awarded a subsea contract by Chevron Australia Pty. Ltd. for the Wheatstone Project, one of Australia’s largest resource projects. The contract, valued at approximately €245 million, covers the development of the Wheatstone and Iago fields, located in the Carnarvon Basin, offshore Northwestern Australia. This contract includes project management, design, fabrication and installation of subsea isolation valve; production tee protection structures, spools(1) and jumpers(2); transport and installation of manifold, foundation structures and pipeline; termination structures; and supply and installation of 41 kilometres of umbilicals. Technip’s operating center in Perth, Australia, will manage the overall project with engineering to begin immediately.

New EVP for Kongsberg Maritime Subsea Division
Bjørn Jalving has been appointed as Executive Vice President of Kongsberg Maritime’s Subsea division and a member of the Kongsberg Maritime management group, effective 1st January 2012. Jalving succeeds Rolf Arne Klepaker, who is moving to a role working with strategic projects in Kongsberg Maritime. Jalving started in Kongsberg Maritime in 2006 as Senior Principal Engineer in the AUV (Autonomous Underwater Vehicle) department. Since 2007, he has been Vice President for HUGIN AUV activity and part of the Subsea management group. He has an MSc in Engineering Cybernetics from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim and for 14 years has worked as a scientist at the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment, FFI.
RBG Enhanced Service Offering
RBG Limited, provider of fabric maintenance and construction support to the global energy industry, launched a new range of products and services enhancing the company’s marine and subsea capability. RBG’s new, diver friendly hydraulic lightweight flange pulling tool is used to aid the safe and efficient assembly of flanged connections prior to the application of bolts. The compact device is operated either by a hand pump or remotely powered hydraulic unit and can pull flanges from distances up to of 600mm, with an applied force of 20 tonnes. To complement the new flange tooling, the company also launched its upgraded Flange Management Software. The system advises on the correct bolt torque and tension values by recording flange behavior, modifications and long-term activity.
