Havfram, J.P. Morgan to Order 'Series' of Wind Turbine Installation Vessels

Institutional investors advised by J.P. Morgan Global Alternatives, in cooperation with Norwegian offshore services firm Havfram, have signed a letter of intent with China's CIMC-Raffles to build "a series of next-generation, state-of-the-art wind turbine installation vessels (“WTIV”)."The jack-up installation units will be offered for market entry in 2024, Havfram said.The first vessels will be built at CIMC-Raffle’s Yantai yard in China for delivery in 2024. Havfram Set to Order Giant Wind Turbine Installation Vessel for U.S. Market

Norwegian firm Ocean Installer, best known for its subsea installation services in the oil and gas sector, in December 2020 changed its name to Havfram - Ocean Forward in Norwegian - saying the name change reflected the company's growing commitment to offshore wind. Now, less than a year after the name change, the company is further strengthening its offshore wind commitment with the plan to order a jack-up wind turbine installation vessel capable of installing giant wind turbines of the future, aimed at the growing U.S.

New Bibby Offshore Vessel Christened

On Thursday, April 9, the official naming ceremony took place for inspection repair and maintenance (IRM) light construction vessel Olympic Bibby, at the Kleven Shipyard, Norway. The ceremony saw the vessel’s official Godmother Connie Brown, wife of recently appointed Chairman of Bibby Offshore Mike Brown, christening the NORSOK compliant, 4,500-metric-ton vessel in front of a crowd of 250. Commenting on her experience, Brown said: It’s been a great honor and privilege to christen the Olympic Bibby.

McDermott Wins Subsea Contract for Petrobras

McDermott International, Inc. (NYSE:MDR) announced that one of its subsidiaries has entered into an agreement with Petrobras for a short term charter to supply its subsea construction vessel North Ocean 102 (“NO102”). The NO102 will carry out deepwater umbilical and flexible pipe installation offshore Brazil and is expected to begin work during the third quarter of 2014. Helix Awards Huisman Contract

Huisman won a new contract from Helix Energy Solutions Group, Inc. for the delivery of a Well Intervention System onboard Helix’s new build Semi submersible “Q7000”. The system, which is based on Huisman’s proven Multi Purpose Tower (MPT) design, will be built by the Huisman production facility in China. The fully integrated 800mt Well Intervention System will be capable of handling the Intervention stack, the high pressure riser and other components. McDermott forms Strategic Alliance with SOCAR, Azerbaijan’s State Oil Company

McDermott International, Inc. (NYSE:MDR) (“McDermott”), announced today that one of its subsidiaries, McDermott Caspian Contractors, Inc., and the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (“SOCAR”) have formed a strategic alliance to implement a major pipelay and diving services contract in the Caspian region. The contract was recently awarded to McDermott in Azerbaijan as part of further development of the Azeri, Chirag and Deepwater Gunashli (“ACG”) field in the Azerbaijan sector of the Caspian Sea.
