ONE Orders Wind-Assist Technology from Econowind
Singapore-based Ocean Network Express (ONE) has decided to install two containerized wind assist units on one of their operated container feeder ships before the end of 2023.The 143-meter, 1036 TEU capacity Kalamazoo is owned by Singapore-based Norse and the wind assist systems will be supplied by the Netherlands-based company, Econowind.The two containerized units will be equipped with the latest wing design from Econowind, the VentoFoil. These have smart suction systems in order to control the airflow around the wing-shaped element ensuring maximal trust per surface area.

As BP, the National Response Team, and an army of volunteers respond to the Deepwater Horizon incident in the Gulf of Mexico, NOIA member companies are lending their resources in an unprecedented cooperative effort to stop the flow of oil and prevent further damage to the environment. These resources include land-based and offshore facilities, aircraft, marine vessels, remotely operated vehicles (ROVs), a containment dome, subsea tooling, subsea video, dispersant, personnel, and technical expertise on suction systems, blowout preventers, dispersant injection, well construction, containment options, subsea wells, environmental science, emergency response, spill assistance, well intervention, and drilling and well competence.
News: Bollinger Refits Vessel for Deep Dredging
Exhibiting the cumulative strength of its vast organization, two Bollinger shipyards teamed on an innovative project to increase the dredging depth of the Pine Bluff Sand and Gravel Co. dustpan dredge, Wallace McGeorge, from 62-ft. to 75-ft., enabling it to dredge at higher river stages and dispatch sooner on a falling river. To complete the task, Bollinger Quick Repair, Harvey, La., fabricated and installed 45-ton, 36- by 20-ft., port and starboard sections to the horn of the dredge, increasing the vessel's overall length from 252.5 to 288.5 ft. The shipyard then installed a new 46-ton, 40-ft. wide by 15- by 30-ft. high, A-frame which it had pre-fabricated for the dredge.
