PMI Energy Services Opens Shorebase in Louisiana

PMI Energy Services, a Superior Energy Services company, has opened a shorebase in Morgan City, Louisiana, focused on supporting shelf, coastal and inland waters production and drilling activities. Hallin Marine Completes Unique FPSO Contract

Hallin Marine, a Superior Energy Services company, says it has completed a unique project for COOEC Subsea Technology, a wholly-own subsidiary of COOEC (China Offshore Oil Engineering Company) which  involved the replacement of 9 mooring lines beneath the floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel HYSY111, while maintaining live operations. The oil and gas industry has previously witnessed the replacement of a single damaged mooring line replacement under such conditions; however this is the first time all FPSO mooring lines have been replaced as one continuous activity. The entire task was completed ahead of schedule without shutting down production on the facility, and with zero lost-time injury.

Superior Energy Included as 2013 Top Workplace

Superior Energy Services has been named one of Houston’s 2013 Top Workplaces by the Houston Chronicle for the second year in a row, announced David Dunlap, Superior Energy Services’ President and CEO. The list honors 150 workplaces in the Houston area ranging from small companies with less than 150 employees to large companies employing more than 500 people. This is the second year for Superior Energy Services to receive recognition within in the “Top Large Companies” category. The results are based on an employee survey conducted by Workplace Dynamics LLC.

HB Rentals Makes Key Appointments

Offshore accommodation and workspace specialists HB Rentals, part of Superior Energy Services has made two key appointments to its business operations as it continues to grow in the eastern hemisphere. Brad Hirst and Mike Christie have been appointed sales and marketing manager and technical manager respectively and will operate out of the company’s new purpose built U.K. facility. Balance Point Control Ltd. (BPC), a Superior Energy Services, Inc. company, has developed the Concentric Snubbing Unit- 160 (CSU – 160) rig assist snubbing unit. According to BPC their new CSU-160 is the first fully remote-operated snubbing unit on the market. Kongsberg Maritime simulators have been selected for Maersk Training's new centre in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The delivery to Maersk Training Brazil Treinamentos Maritimos LTDA is under a non-exclusive frame agreement signed earlier by Kongsberg Maritime and Maersk Training. The Kongsberg Offshore Vessel Simulator at Maersk Training Brazil will be operational in the second quarter 2013. The new simulator package includes the advanced Kongsberg Offshore Vessel Simulator integrated with Kongsberg's K-Pos Dynamic Positioning Simulator, which will meet The Nautical Institute's class A requirements.

Hallin Marine's Windermere Active in Indonesia

Hallin Marine, a Superior Energy Services company, has announced that its SOV Windermere subsea operations vessel is providing offshore support services in the Maleo gas field off Madura, East Java. Operating on behalf of a major Indonesian oil company, the Windermere is engaged in a wide range of testing and platform support operations. These include repair and maintenance of subsea gussets, underwater welding of gusset plates and grouting work on mobile offshore production unit (MOPU) legs. A central element of the project is the Windermere's integral 15-man saturating diving facility.

Delivery of Two Anchor Handlers to Superior Energy

Kvichak Marine Industries recently delivered two (2) 38’ Anchor Handling utility vessels to Superior Energy Services out of Houston, TX. The all-aluminum vessels are hard-chined monohulls designed by Kvichak in conjunction with Superior and fitted with a forward skeg along with forward and aft push knees, heated decks and windows, then rounded out with subsea navigation equipment plus a subsea winch. Bear Cub I and Bear Cub II are powered by twin Cummins QSB engines rated for 305 bhp each with ZF 305-2 transmissions and propelled by 4 bladed stainless steel props enclosed in nozzles.

Kongsberg Delivers Offshore Ops Simulator

Superior Energy Services of Houston, Texas, took delivery of one of the most advanced maritime training simulators ever developed, in April 2012. The next-generation simulator from Kongsberg Maritime will be used to provide integrated, real-time training for Superior’s offshore marine personnel at its new facility in Anchorage, Alaska. The 12-month project included the construction of three 12-man sleepers, a galley, diner, office, laundry room, company man office, and heliport with a fire suppression system. HB Rentals also provided stairs and platforms for the building package.

Stabil Drill, a Superior Energy Services company, has developed the Stabil Drill Ghost Reamer for application in horizontal shale drilling, announced COO Chris Russo. The Ghost Reamer, an eight-bladed Polycrystalline Diamond Compact (PDC) reamer, allows the wellbore to be cleaned and cleared either by back reaming on rigs that have top-drive or for rigs without top-drive, by pulling out to the top of the curve and then rotating forward until reaching total depth. This flexible solution eliminates wiper trips - saving time and money.
