Kongsberg Digital Adds Propulsion Analytics’ Tools to Kognifai Marketplace

Kongsberg Digital and Propulsion Analytics have signed a partnership that will add Propulsion Analytics’ Engine Hyper Cube and VesselQUAD applications to the Kognifai Marketplace digital tools platform.Propulsion Analytics supplies applications in performance management and energy efficiency for the maritime industry.The Engine Hyper Cube application is an engine performance management and fault diagnosis tool. It uses a thermodynamic digital twin of any engine (main and/or auxiliary engines) to enable engine optimization, as well as early detection and localization of faults.

15 Companies make the cut in PortXL Maritime Acceleration Program

Fifteen companies from 11 countries were selected by a panel of industry experts, investors and entrepreneurs for the 6th PortXL acceleration program in Rotterdam. Starting in September, they will spend three months in Rotterdam. The PortXL team and its large network of expert mentors and partners will support them in validating their technologies and scaling their businesses. The program will end on December 2, when the signed contracts between innovators and corporate partners, such as Port of Rotterdam and Van Oord, will be announced at the Shakedown event.

Huntington Ingalls Industries announced changes to its senior leadership team. Michael Smith, executive vice president, strategy and development, is moving to HII’s Technical Solutions division, where he will serve as president of the SN3 business and report to Michael Lempke, president of the Nuclear & Environmental group, effective immediately. Pacific Radiance Gets USD 45.3mln in Vessel Deals

Singapore's Offshore support vessel (OSV)-focused Pacific Radiance said that it has won US$45.3 million of new contracts including options, which will add to its operating cash flow. Under these contracts, ten of the Group’s offshore support vessels, including a diving support vessel, are being deployed to support projects in Asia and the Middle East. They are chartered to new and existing clients to provide services which include towing, repair and maintenance, transportation and platform support. GAC Supports Beatrice Offshore Windfarm Project

GAC UK has been appointed by Seaway Heavy Lifting (SHL) to provide essential shipping services support for the construction and installation of 84 new turbines as part of a major windfarm expansion project which will increase generating capacity almost six-fold. SHL, the engineering, procurement, construction and installation contractor, will design, supply and install the piled foundations, jacket substructures and inter-array cables for the Beatrice Offshore Windfarm Limited (BOWL) project in the Outer Moray Firth. They will also transport and install the offshore substations. Both SHL’s crane vessels will be deployed: HLV Stanislav Yudin’ from April 2017 to April 2018, HLV ‘Oleg Strashnov’ from August to October 2017 and again from May to July 2018.

Abu Dhabi Ports and Gulf Marine Services Announce New Partnership

Abu Dhabi Ports – the master developer, operator and manager of ports and Khalifa Industrial Zone in the Emirate ― has signed a contract with Gulf Marine Services (GMS) that will see the creation of a state-of-the-art facility at Zayed Port where GMS will construct and maintain its offshore support vessels that serve the region’s oil and gas industry. Zayed Port in Abu Dhabi city―a regional hub for the cruise industry, and general and bulk cargo―will lease the new facility to GMS for three years. GMS, founded in Abu Dhabi in 1977 and listed on the London Stock Exchange in 2014, is the largest operator of self-propelled self-elevating support vessels (SESVs), also known as jackup barges, in the world.

Completed GMS Scirocco Gets first Contract

Gulf Marine Services the provider of advanced self-propelled self-elevating support vessels (SESVs) serving the offshore oil, gas and renewable energy sectors, informed that the newly-built GMS Scirocco has been completed ahead of schedule and under budget and has been awarded its first contract. The vessel will commence a four-month contract (three months firm with a one-month option) in October for an engineering, procurement and construction contractor working for a MENA-based national oil company, with day rates in line with those previously indicated for the region. GMS Scirocco is the second of a new SESV design, the Mid-Size Class, to be added to the Group's fleet and a third, GMS Sharqi, will be delivered in Q1 2016.

Shell Norway Award Subsea Service Contract to ABB

ABB signs a $260 million service contract with A/S Norske Shell for operations at the Draugen and Ormen Lange oil & gas fields. The contract is for a period of 9 years and requires ABB to provide integrated service and support solutions for the Draugen offshore oil platform and the nearby Ormen Lange onshore gas processing plant on the west coast of Norway. The agreement includes the option of two consecutive two year contracts and covers both the oil and gas fields, as well as future expansions, tie-ins and upgrades. ABB has delivered significant annual savings over five successive years since it was awarded the first service contract by A/S Norske Shell in 2007. The contract scope includes the system’s integration across the electric, instrument, control and telecommunication systems.

Effects of Hull Fouling on Cruise Ships Study

Eniram collected data from + 60 cruise vessels & 38,000 sea days to highlight the financial impact of fouling across different sea areas. Eniram Limited, the Finnish provider of real-time decision support solutions for the shipping industry, has revealed its analysis on the effects of hull fouling on cruise vessels in different sea areas. This study also takes into account the impact of washing and dry docking on fouling by using data from over 38,000 operative sea days complemented with temperatures and salinity databases. Eniram’s landmark study on 60 cruise ships (90-120.000 GRT) sailing through a variety of sea areas is one of the most comprehensive of its kind due to the volume of data collected and high frequency of observations, up to 25 per second.

EMAS to take delivery of FPSOs from Keppel Shipyard

EMAS Production is set to take delivery of one of Vietnam's largest Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessels from Keppel Shipyard Limited (Keppel Shipyard), on behalf of owner PV Keez Pte. Ltd (PV Keez). To be managed and operated by EMAS Production, FPSO Lewek EMAS has been chartered by Premier Oil Vietnam Offshore B.V. for the development of the Chim Sáo field off southern Vietnam for six years, with a further option to extend the charter by another six years. The FPSO charter contract is one of only seven signed worldwide in 2009, and is worth approximately US$1 billion.

FPSO Installation deal to Aker Solutions

MODEC Offshore Production Systems (Singapore) Pte Ltd. awarded Aker Solutions' wholly-owned subsidiary Aker Marine Contractors a mooring installation contract for hook-up of the Bourgogne FPSO offshore Angola. Contract value is approximately $30m. MODEC will supply the PSVM FPSO to BP for the oil company's PSVM (Plutão, Saturno, Vênus and Marte) development in Block 31 offshore Angola. The FPSO will be installed in approximately 2 000 meters water depth and have production capacity of 157,000 barrels per day. "This contract represents another significant step forward in our relationship with MODEC," says Erik Wiik, President - Subsea North America, Aker Solutions.
