FLEET and Marubeni Form New Ship Management Company

Ship management company Fleet Management Limited (FLEET), part of the Caravel Group, said it has launched a new integrated ship management unit – MaruFleet Management Pte Ltd – in Singapore in collaboration with MMSL Pte. Ltd. (MMSL), a Singapore subsidiary of Marubeni Corporation. MaruFleet will provide dedicated ship management services to MMSL. Kishore Rajvanshy, FLEET Managing Director, said the relationship between FLEET and Marubeni began in 2014 when FLEET began to manage MMSL’s first Supramax bulk carrier, Crimson Queen.

Norden Orders Two More Bulk Carriers at NACKS

Norden announced Tuesday it has added two bulk carriers to an existing newbuilding contract with shipbuilder Nantong Cosco Khi Ship Engineering Co. (NACKS), taking the total order to six vessels.The Danish shipowner said it has already sold two of the six vessels on sale and lease back terms, freeing up liquidity. The newbuilds are scheduled to be delivered from 2022.In addition, Norden said it bought a secondhand 2014 built Supramax bulk carrier scheduled to join its fleet in September.

MES-S Delivers 66,000 Dwt Bulker Newbuild

Japanese shipbuilder Mitsui E&S Shipbuilding (MES-S) has handed over a 66,000 dwt bulk carrier to Liberia-based Tomaros Navigation at its Tamano Shipyard.The newbuild is named M/V Tomaros."This is the 20th ship of our "neo66BC", the "wide beam shallow draft vessel" of our line-up "neo series"," said the shipbuilder.Featuring a length of 200 meters and a width of 36 meters, the 38,234 GT bulker flies the flag of the Bahamas.Tomaros has four cranes and five cargo holds, and keeps the superior usability of 56BC.The vessel is designed to have enough deadweight more than 66,000 metric tons and capacity more than 82,800 cubic meters for loading various cargos like coal…

Belships Offloads Supramax Bulk Carrier

Norwegian shipping company Belships has entered into an agreement for a bareboat charter and subsequent sale of its 50,000 dwt Supramax bulk carrier Beleast.According to an agreement with Marti Shipping & Ship Management of Turkey Belships' 2006-built vessel will enter the bareboat charter during the fourth quarter of 2019. It is the oldest ship in Belships’ fleet of 22 Supramax and Ultramax vessels, including newbuildings.Beleast will enter the bareboat charter during the fourth quarter of 2019 and Belships will realize a gain of approximately USD 4.0 million.The Charterer has an obligation to purchase the vessel within 24 months and…

Belships Buys Supramax Bulk Carrier

Nowegean bulk ship operator Belships has agreed to acquire the 55,866 dwt bulk carrier M/V SEPHORA from Prospero Marine Ltd, a company controlled by Greek shipowner Elias Kulukundis.The vessel was built by Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Japan in 2007, the Oslo-listed company informed.The agreed purchase price for MV SEPHORA is USD 12.0 million, of which half will be paid in cash. The remaining consideration will be settled through a proposed issue of 7,405,114 new Belships shares to the seller of the vessel. The agreed share price in the transaction is NOK 7.00 per share. Belships expects the cash payment to be fully financed within the previously announced financing package (see stock exchange release 14 March, 2019).

Oldendorff Sells Three Vessels in in CSL Pool to Algoma

The dry bulk operator Oldendorff Carriers sold the three remaining self-unloaders still operating in the CSL Pool for US$100.5 million to Algoma Central Corporation.CSL International Pool is a partnership between Oldendorff Carriers, Marbulk Shipping Inc. and Algoma Shipping Inc.The vessels -Sophie Oldendorff (70,037 tdw built 2000), Harmen Oldendorff (66,188 tdw built 2005) & Alice Oldendorff (50,259 tdw built 2000) -  are expected to deliver to Algoma around the middle of 2019.All three vessels have been trading in the CSL Pool on the East Coast of North and South America since they were built. Jinhui Shipping Sells Supramax Bulker

Jinhui Shipping and Transportation Limited, one of the world's largest Supramax owners, informed that its subsisidary Jinzhou Marine has decided to dispose of a Supramax bulk carrier.Jinzhou Marine signed a memorandum of agreement with the buyer for the disposal of the 50,209 dwt bulker for $7.38m.The Oslo and Hong Kong-listed owner  said in a stock exchange announcement that the 2001-built vessel, Jin Zhou, will be delivered to the new owner between 15 February and 31 March.Jinhui Holdings, parent of Jinhui Shipping, intends to keep all net sale proceeds received as general working capital. MES-S Delivers 66,000 DWT Bulk Carrier

Japanese shipbuilder MITSUI E & S SHIPBUILDING CO., LTD. (MES-S) said it has completed and delivered a 66,000 dwt bulk carrier M.V. Kedros at its Tamano Shipyard on June, 14, for KEDROS NAVIGATION SA, Liberia.The vessel is the 17th ship of the builder's wide beam neo66BC series.The vessel is equipped with four cranes and has five cargo holds with total capacity for more than 82,800 cubic meters for loading cargoes such as coal, ore, grain, as well as lengthy/heavy cargo like steel pipe and hot coil. Maybulk on Selling Spree

Malaysian Bulk Carriers Bhd (Maybulk) is said to be putting two more vessels up for sale, says The Edge, a local media. This comes on the heels of reports that it has sold one of its five post-Panamax dry bulk carriers — the 87,000-deadweight tonne (dwt) Alam Pesona — for US$6.8 million (RM27.88 million). The country’s largest dry bulk shipowner controlled by tycoon Tan Sri Robert Kuok  is now in talks to sell Alam Padu, a bulk carrier built in April 2005 and has a deadweight of 87,000 tonnes, and Alam Murni, which is a 2003-built, 53,000dwt Supramax bulk carrier. Sources said that while Alam Pesona had been sold to Greek shipowner Navitas Compania Maritima SA, it is unclear who the buyers of the other two vessels are.

New Bulkers Launched into Fuel-saving Future

One of the first commercial applications of MAN Diesel & Turbo’s new MAN Alpha Kappel FP propeller took place off the coast of China recently when the vessel Elsabeth C, a 58,500-dwt Supramax bulk carrier owned by Frontmarine Co. Ltd – an affiliated and managed company of Lemissoler Navigation Co. Ltd., the Cypriot ship management group – completed its sea trials. The newbuilding is the first in a series of eight sister ships, all featuring single MAN B&W 5S60ME-C8.2 engines with an SMCR 8050 kW at 89 rpm.

G E Shipping Acquires a Supramax Bulk Carrier & Sells "Jag Prachi"

The Great Eastern Shipping Company Ltd. (G E Shipping) took delivery of a 2006-built Supramax Bulk Carrier of about 52,454 dwt. The company had contracted to buy the ship earlier this month. Earlier yesterday the company reported having delivered its 1991 built General Purpose Product Carrier “Jag Prachi” (28,610 dwt) to the buyers on 23rd September, 2014. The company had contracted to sell the ship in August 2014. With the sale of "Jag Prachi" and the inclusion of the Supramax Bulk Carrier, the Company’s current fleet stands at 30 vessels, comprising 21 tankers (8 crude carriers, 11 product tankers, 2 LPG carriers) and 9 dry bulk carriers (1 Capesize, 3 Kamsarmax, 5 Supramax) with an average age of 9.8 years aggregating 2.45 mn dwt.   G E Shipping

G E Shipping Contracts to Buy a Supramax Bulk Carrier

The Great Eastern Shipping Company Limited (G E Shipping) has signed a contract to buy a Supramax Bulk Carrier of about 52,454 dwt. The 2006 built vessel is expected to join the Company’s fleet in September-October 2014. The Company’s current fleet stands at 30 vessels, comprising 22 tankers (8 crude carriers, 12  product tankers, 2 LPG carriers) and 8 dry bulk carriers (1 Capesize, 3 Kamsarmax, 4 Supramax)  with an average age of 10 years aggregating 2.42 mn dwt. Last month, the company contracted to sell a General Purpose product tanker which will be delivered to the buyers in September-October 2014. In July 2014, the company signed a contract to sell one of its two gas carriers. The vessel is scheduled for delivery to buyers in H2 2014-15.

Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (MES) completed and delivered a 66,000 dwt type bulk carrier M.V. Clipper Excelsior (MES Hull No. 1859) at its Tamano Works on March 25, 2014 to Clio Marine Inc., Liberia. This is the third ship of MES’ wide beam shallow draft vessel called neo66BC, the new generation ship of the builder’s neo series lineup. The ship is designed to have enough deadweight for more than 66,000 metric tons and capacity for more than 82,800 cubic meters for loading various cargos like coal, ore and grain, as well as lengthy/heavy cargo such as steel pipe and hot coil.

China Shipyard Delivers Another Supramax Bulk Carrier

COSCO Corporation (Singapore) Limited says its COSCO Dalian shipyard has delivered the 57,000 dwt bulk ship 'Guotou' to its Asian buyer. The new bulk carrier measures 189.99 meters in LOA, 32.26 meters in breadth and 18 meters in depth. Founded in June 2001, COSCO Shipyard Group Co., Ltd, is a subsidiary of China Ocean Shipping Company (COSCO), specializing in large vessel construction, marine engineering, construction and conversion, as well as ship repairing services. Shipyards are located in Dalian, Nantong, Zhoushan, Guangdong Province, Shanghai, Lian Yungang and other places in China.

Latest Ocean-going Shipbuilding Orders

A relatively quiet week in the shipbuilding sector according to the latest report Clarkson Hellas S&P Weekly Bulletin. Henghou Industries have contracted two further vessels in a series of 250,000 dwt ore carriers at Guangzhou Longxue. Pricing remains undisclosed, however delivery of these latest vessels is planned for 2016 and takes the total series to four firm. Knightsbridge Tankers are reported to have placed an order for two firm 180,000 dwt Capesize at Daehan Shipbuilding, with delivery of both vessels planned for 2015.

Due to continuous delays in the construction and delivery of two Kamsarmax bulkers, Ultrabulk cancels. The bulkships were originally to be built at Zhoushan Jinhaiwan Shipyard Co. 'MV Star Norita', a 58,000 dwt supramax bulk carrier named and delivered from Tsuneishi (Zhoushan) Shipbuilding Inc., China. The vessel is a sister of the recently delivered Isabelita, Bonita and Kristinita of the TESS 58 design. Star Norita is 100% owned by Ugland Shipping AS. Margrethe Nes Beisland,  wife of Ugland's Managing Director Øystein Beisland, christened the vessel 'Star Norita' which is to join the UBULK Pool and is fixed on a 5-year TC to Grieg Star Shipping AS, Bergen.

China Shipyard Delivers Supramax Bulker to SCI

The Shipping Corporation of India Ltd. (SCI) has accepted delivery of  supramax bulk carrier, 'm.v. The vessel is the last vessel of SCI’s six Supramax bulk carriers ordered from STX (Dalian) Shipbuilding Co. Ltd., China. Orders for these vessels were placed in December 2007 which were ordered as part replacement of SCI’s existing Daewoo series Handymax bulk carriers which were built in 1986/87. With induction of these vessels the overall age profile of SCI’s bulk carrier fleet has improved significantly to 6 years. “m.v. Vishva Diksha” has a gross tonnage of 33,185 tonnes and deadweight of 57,132.5 tonnes. The vessel has been classed with DNV and IRS and has been built to comply with the latest and most stringent international regulations.

Bulk Carrier Design Delivers 14% Fuel Oil Reduction

Lloyd’s Register supervised the design appraisal, build and sea trials, verifying the performance of a new, modified 57,000 dwt ship based on a SDARI design. The M.V. Aquila, first in a new series of supramax bulk carrier designs, optimised to burn less fuel oil has been delivered in China on the eve of the Lunar New Year holidays. The efficiency improvements have been achieved by carrying out a number of straightforward – but effective – changes including: de-rating the main engine, a new propeller design which has been optimised for the de-rated engine, and fitting a mewis duct.

Sinopacific Secures Order for 4+2 Bulkers

Sinopacific Shipbuilding Group, Leading the Supramax Bulk Carrier Market, Secures Order for 4+2 Crown 63 Ships. Sinopacific Shipbuilding Group secured an order for 4+2 Crown 63 (63,500 DWT) Supramax bulk carriers from a foreign ship owner on October 8. The Crown 63 is a new generation bulk carrier which is self designed by Sinopacific Shipbuilding Group. This ship became the focus of attention from around the shipping world as soon as it was introduced on the market, and many orders were quickly received for it.

Delivery of a New VLCC to Oman Shipping

Oman Shipping Company S.A.O.C. accepted delivery of a Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC), SAMAIL, from Universal Shipbuilding Corporation, in Kawasaki city inJapan, becoming the 29th vessel to be operated by the company. The 300,000-dwt Panamanian flagged vessel SAMAIL measures 330 x 60 m with a draft of around 22 m. She will be the first VLCC to be technically managed "in house" by OSC’s subsidiary by Oman Ship Management Company S.A.O.C. in Muscat.
