Unique System Wins Two-year NPCC Contract

Unique System FZE, a Unique Maritime Group company, an integrated turnkey subsea and offshore solutions provider, has been awarded a two-year service contract by The National Petroleum Construction Company (NPCC). Established in April 1973, the NPCC is a construction company which provides clients total engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services in the development of offshore and onshore oil and gas fields for the Arabian Gulf and the regional markets. Over the years Unique System FZE has been supporting NPCC offshore operation with a wide range of survey equipments.

Hydroid, Inc., a subsidiary of Kongsberg Maritime and manufacturer of Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs), announces its newest AUV, the REMUS 600 Survey (REMUS 600-S) at the XVIII International Hydrographic Conference (IHC) in Monaco. The REMUS 600-S is a high performance version of the successful REMUS 600 AUV and features advanced technology that has only previously been available in Kongsberg's accomplished HUGIN vehicles, making it ideal for such applications as International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) quality surveys.

OceanServer Delivers AUV's to SC Marine Research

SC Marine Research SRL Takes Delivery of Two Iver2 AUVs. OceanServer Technology, Inc. has recently delivered two AUVs to SC Marine Research SRL located in Bucharest, Romania. Marine Research is a new and dynamic company devoted to the research of aquatic environments in and around Romania. The two IVER2 systems will initially be used to map the sea bottom around the Danube Delta located on the Black Sea. The purpose of this research is to identify and localize benthic habitats and document their characteristics.

OceanServer Awarded 2 New AUV Contracts

OceanServer Technology, Inc. has recently received AUV orders from NOAA and the University of Wisconsin for use in scientific research and mapping applications. The new order from NOAA represents the federal agency’s second Iver2 vehicle purchase. NOAA’s Chesapeake Bay Office is developing an operational capability to observe and monitor habitat restoration and quantify environmental conditions in restoration areas. More Orders for OceanServer Iver2 AUV

OceanServer Technology announced that it has received purchase orders for 12 new Iver2 AUVs from seven different customers during the last two months. Vehicle orders span four different defense related applications with the majority of these vehicles going to overseas customers. Research related vehicles will be delivered to Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute (WHOI), University of Michigan, YSI Environmental and the US Naval Research Laboratory. California Polytechnic Orders Second Iver2 AUV

OceanServer Technology announced that Cal Poly has agreed to purchase a second Iver2 AUV for research purposes. The first Iver2 AUV was purchased in 2008 and has been used extensively for a variety of research applications including one project that required the vehicle to operate under the ice in the Arctic. The new vehicle will also be a multi use platform in a number of research efforts including marine life tracking (such as sharks). NRC of Canada Orders EP42 Iver2 AUV

OceanServer Technology announced that the National Research Council (NRC) of Canada has taken delivery of a new vehicle. NRC is the Canadian Government's resource for research, development and technology-based innovation. The Iver2 vehicle, equipped with OceanServer’s dual port camera system, side scan sonar and backseat driver/remote helming capability will be used in a broad range of upcoming research initiatives. The EP42 Expandable Payload (EP) platform includes a dedicated CPU with disk to enable the installation of a user-selected operating system, sensor drivers and behavioral software.

Waddington Joins Marine Industrial Svcs

Substructure, Inc., a global marine services company providing high-resolution marine assessment, marine pile encapsulation, and other underwater capabilities, announced that geophysical survey expert Tom Waddington has joined the company as senior marine scientist and chief hydrographer. Waddington, who brings nearly 25 years of experience in the marine survey field to Substructure’s global marine services, will oversee Substructure’s hydrographic operations, including use of their state-of-the art hydrographic survey vessel, Orion. Formerly a senior marine scientist with Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), Waddington also has served as chief of the Survey Section for the U.S.

Oceanology International 2002: A New Home and an Improved Program

Regular visitors to this year’s Oceanology International (OI) will be surprised to learn that the Exhibition and Conference is moving to the ExCeL (Exhibition Center London) in London Docklands.
