Sustainable Shipping Focus: MEYER Group Acquires 50% Stake in C-Job Naval Architects

MEYER Group has agreed to acquire a 50 percent stake in ship design and engineering company C-Job Naval Architects.C-Job is an independent company that operates worldwide with offices across five countries and has its headquarters in the Netherlands. MEYER Group is an international consortium including MEYER Werft with three shipyards in Papenburg, Rostock, and the Finnish city of Turku."C-Job Naval Architects is considered a thought leader when it comes to sustainability in the maritime industry, having been at the forefront of alternative fuels research.

Green Marine Celebrates 15 Years of Continual Sustainability Improvement

Green Marine, North America’s environmental certification program for the maritime industry, is celebrating 15 years of sustainability improvements with the release of its 2022 Performance Report.The program includes 52 ports, 49 shipowners (620 vessels), 17 shipyards, & 71 terminals operators (209 sites) in North America, and the report displays all the individual results of the participants in addition to the overall average and an analysis of the environmental performance for the year concerned.

European Council Adopts Fit for 55 Amendment to Include Shipping

The European Council has adopted five laws that are part of the Fit for 55 package, including the amendment to include shipping in the EU emissions trading system (ETS).The package sets the EU’s policies in line with its commitment to reduce its net greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55% by 2030 compared to 1990 levels and to achieve climate neutrality in 2050.The vote in the Council is the last step of the decision-making procedure. Stena Line Reports 11% cut in Carbon Emissions

Stena Line says that it has decreased the carbon emissions by 11% per ton of cargo carried over each nautical mile, plus a reduction of 4% total ship emissions compared to pre-Covid operations. According to the company, the main contributor is the higher utilization of its fleet with cargo during the latest years. ‘Recycled-based’ Dyneema: Lankhorst Supplies Heerema Heavy Lift Slings

For the first time in the heavy lift industry, Lankhorst Ropes is supplying Heerema Marine Contractors with LankoForce HL slings manufactured with Dyneema SK78 fiber produced using post-consumer plastic waste as a feedstock.
