Marlink, ABS Wavesight Partner to Fast Track Digital Transformation

Marlink and ABS Wavesight signed an agreement to collaborate on using optimized connectivity to support efficient delivery of sustainability services and data to clients’ vessels. The agreement connects Marlink’s blended network with the voyage optimization and vessel management services provided by ABS Wavesight.

ABS Taps Koutsourakis to Head Its Sustainability Team

ABS has appointed Panos Koutsourakis to head its global sustainability team. Koutsourakis is an 18-year industry veteran who has key industry experience with shipping companies, classification, operations, design and new construction, decarbonization technologies and strategic planning.As Vice President, Global Sustainability, Koutsourakis heads-up a global network of sustainability centers in key maritime locations, including Singapore, Athens, Houston, Copenhagen and Shanghai.

DNV Anchors Graduate Commitment with Launch of UK Scheme

DNV, the multinational provider of risk management and sustainability services, has established a UK graduate program to develop new talent in the energy and maritime industries. DNV has welcomed 14 graduates on the scheme this year with plans already in place for a similar intake again in 2013. The two year program gives graduates an insight to the many areas in which DNV operates and the diversity of services provided by the independent organization. The scheme offers flexibility for graduates to experience different industries and tailor their own career path. Graduates spend four six month blocks in different teams within DNV to gain broad experience of the company and the disciplines they want to gain expertise in.

Wilhelmsen Ships Service acquires Nalfleet

Wilhelmsen Ships Service has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Nalfleet, the marine division of Nalco, the world's largest sustainability services company. Together with its Unitor chemical range, this will further strengthen and enhance Wilhelmsen Ships Service’s marine chemicals portfolio. Nalfleet provides marine water treatment chemicals and is a sales and technical service organisation supported by an international manufacturing and distribution system operating in more than 500 major ports around the world. Wilhelmsen Ships Service’s own global network is already capable of servicing 2200 ports in 125 countries. This capacity was built upon the Wilhelmsen Maritime Services acquisition of Unitor in 2005 and the subsequent merger with Barwil Agencies.
