Unifeeder Intros New Sweden-Poland Service

Sweden's Port of Gävle will be included on the rotation of the newly launched Unifeeder Sweden-Poland Service.According to Yilport Gavle, this is the first commercial feeder service ever to directly connect the Swedish east coast to Poland with a weekly service.The service will start from Gdansk and then call Gdynia, Gavle, Norrkoeping, and back to Gdansk. The first call is expected on August 12th.Yilport  Nordic Region General Manager Eryn Dinyovszky said: "We are very proud to announce that we can now connect directly to Poland from Gavle. It is not often that you get to be a part of the first ever new service corridor of this magnitude.

LNG Bunkering: World's Largest Starts Ops

Kiel’s Forest Products Center Launched

Kiel’s new forest products handling and distribution centre has gone into operation in the Ostuferhafen. This means that the port has now become an integral part of the logistics chain operated by the Swedish concerns Svenska Cellulosa Aktiebolaget (SCA) and Iggesund Paperboard. Dr Dirk Claus, Managing Director of the Port of Kiel (SEEHAFEN KIEL GmbH & Co. KG) said: “We have created a terminal in the Ostuferhafen which is tailor-made to the requirements of our customers. In addition to that, Kiel’s geographical location fits very well into the SCA liner network”. SCA cargo ships from Sundsvall have been calling at the Ostuferhafen once a week since the beginning of the month, offloading 6,000 tons of forest products with each visit.

Wärtsilä Acquires Swedish Ship Repair Business

Wärtsilä has signed an agreement to acquire the entire business of the Swedish company Stockholms Fartygsreparationer AB. The agreement $1m ($.8 million Euros). Stockholms Fartygsreparationer handles all types of ship repair on the eastern coast of Sweden and in 2005 had net sales of $1.1m (0.9 million Euros). The business will now be handled by Wärtsilä Sweden AB. Stockholms Fartygsreparationer's personnel of 10 persons will become Wärtsilä employees. This acquisition is a base for further expansion along the Swedish east coast and a part of Wärtsilä's strategy to expand the business operations of the Wärtsilä Services.

Wärtsilä acquires Swedish Ship Repair Business

Stockholms Fartygsreparationer handles all types of ship repair on the eastern coast of Sweden and in 2005 had net sales of 8 million Swedish krona (EUR 0.9 million). The business will now be handled by Wärtsilä Sweden AB. Stockholms Fartygsreparationer's personnel of 10 persons will become Wärtsilä employees. This acquisition is a base for further expansion along the Swedish east coast and a part of Wärtsilä's strategy to expand the business operations of the Wärtsilä Services.
