Diana Shipping Fixes P. S. Palios with SwissMarine

Diana Shipping announced that, through a separate wholly-owned subsidiary, it has entered into a time charter contract with SwissMarine Services S.A., Geneva, for one of its Capesize dry bulk vessels, the m/v P. S. The global shipping company specializing in the ownership of dry bulk vessels said that the gross charter rate is US$19,150 per day, minus a 5% commission paid to third parties, for a period of about nine months to maximum 12 months. Diana Shipping, a global shipping company specializing in the ownership of dry bulk vessels, today announced that, through a separate wholly-owned subsidiary, it has entered into a time charter contract with SwissMarine Services S.A., Geneva, for one of its Capesize dry bulk vessels, the m/v Norfolk. The gross charter rate is US$13,250 per day, minus a 5% commission paid to third parties, for a period of minimum 21 months to maximum 24 months. The charter is expected to commence on December 1, 2017. The m/v Norfolk is currently chartered, as previously announced, to Trafigura Maritime Logistics Pte. Diana Shipping  announced that, through a separate wholly-owned subsidiary, it has entered into a time charter contract with Glencore Agriculture B.V., Rotterdam, for one of its Ice Class Panamax dry bulk vessels, the m/v Crystalia. The gross charter rate is US$11,100 per day, minus a 5% commission paid to third parties, for a period of minimum 12 months to about 15 months. The charter is expected to commence later today. The m/v Crystalia is currently chartered, as previously announced, to SwissMarine Services S.A., Geneva, at a gross charter rate of US$6,250 per day, minus a 5% commission paid to third parties. The “Crystalia” is a 77,525 dwt Ice Class Panamax dry bulk vessel built in 2014.

Diana Shipping Extends Time Charter Contract for M/v Houston

Diana Shipping  has announced that, through a separate wholly-owned subsidiary, it has agreed to extend the present time charter contract with SwissMarine Services, Geneva, for one of its Capesize dry bulk vessels, the m/v Houston, for a period of about thirteen (13) months to maximum fifteen (15) months. The gross charter rate is US$5,150 per day for the first fifteen (15) days of the charter period and US$10,000 per day for the balance period of the time charter, in each case minus a 5% commission paid to third parties. Diana Shipping , through a separate wholly-owned subsidiary, has agreed to extend the present time charter contract with SwissMarine Services S.A., Geneva, for one of its Capesize dry bulk vessels, the m/v Aliki. The global shipping company specializing in the ownership of dry bulk vessels extended the contract  for a period of about eleven (11) months to maximum fourteen (14) months. The gross charter rate is US$10,300 per day, minus a 5% commission paid to third parties. The new charter period is expected to commence on February 13, 2017. The “Aliki” is a 180,235 dwt Capesize dry bulk vessel built in 2005. The employment extension of “Aliki” is anticipated to generate approximately US$3.24 million of gross revenue for the minimum scheduled period of the time charter.

Newcastlemax Duo Joins Diana Shipping’s Fleet

Diana Shipping has taken delivery of the m/v San Francisco (formerly Hull No. H2548)  and the m/v Newport News (formerly Hull No. H2549), two new building Newcastlemax dry bulk vessels that were contracted in May 2013. The m/v San Francisco has been time chartered to Koch Shipping Pte. Ltd. at a rate of $11,750 per day, for a period of minimum twelve (12) months to about sixteen (16) months. The charter is expected to commence on January 6, 2017. The employment is expected to generate approximate $4.2 million in gross revenues. The m/v Newport News has been time chartered to SwissMarine Services with employment expected to commence on Jan. 9, for a period of minimum twenty-two (22) months to maximum twenty-six (26) months.

Diana Shipping Grants Lower Price for Bulker Duo

Diana Shipping Inc. Diana Shipping Inc., today announced that, through two separate wholly-owned subsidiaries, it has signed two addenda with China Shipbuilding Trading Company, Limited and Jiangnan Shipyard (Group) Co., Ltd., collectively called the “Seller”, among other things, to reduce the contract price and to change the delivery date of the two Newcastlemax dry bulk carriers, Hull No. H2548 (to be named “San Francisco”) and Hull No. H2549 (to be named “Newport News”). As previously announced, the contract price was US$48.7 million per vessel and now the Seller has agreed to reduce this price by US$1.0 million for each of the abovementioned vessels. The delivery date of the two vessels is now expected to be on January 4, 2017.

Diana Shipping Enters Contract with SwissMarine

Diana Shipping Inc., through a separate wholly-owned subsidiary, has entered into a time charter contract with SwissMarine Services S.A., Geneva, for one of its Ice Class Panamax dry bulk vessels, the m/v Crystalia. The gross charter rate is US$6,250 per day, minus a 5% commission paid to third parties, for a period of minimum eleven (11) months to maximum fourteen (14) months. The charter is expected to commence tomorrow. The “Crystalia” is a 77,525 dwt Ice Class Panamax dry bulk vessel built in 2014. This employment is anticipated to generate approximately US$2.06 million of gross revenue for the minimum scheduled period of the time charter. Diana Shipping Inc.’s fleet currently consists of 46 dry bulk vessels (2 Newcastlemax, 14 Capesize, 3 Post-Panamax, 4 Kamsarmax and 23 Panamax).

Diana Acquires Panamax Bulker

Diana Shipping Inc. today announced that through a separate wholly-owned subsidiary, it has taken delivery of the m/v Selina (formerly “Sunshine”), a 2010 built Panamax dry bulk vessel of 75,700 dwt that the Company entered into an agreement to purchase in February 2016. As previously announced, the Company signed, through two separate wholly-owned subsidiaries, a term sheet with ABN AMRO Bank N.V. for a term loan facility of up to US$25.755 million to finance the entire acquisition cost of m/v Infinity 9 (tbr. “Ismene”), that was delivered to the Company on March 21, 2016 and the newly delivered m/v Selina. Greek dry bulk shipping company Diana Shipping has entered into a time charter agreement with Geneva-based SwissMarine Services S.A. for its Capesize dry bulker the m/v Houston. The gross charter rate is US$5,150 per day, minus a 5% commission paid to third parties, for a period of minimum eleven (11) months to maximum fourteen (14) months. The charter is expected to commence on January 30, 2016. The “Houston” is a 177,729 dwt Capesize dry bulk vessel built in 2009. This employment is anticipated to generate approximately US$1.7 million of gross revenue for the minimum scheduled period of the time charter. Diana Shipping Inc.’s fleet currently consists of 43 dry bulk vessels (2 Newcastlemax, 14 Capesize, 3 Post-Panamax, 4 Kamsarmax and 20 Panamax).

Baltic Trading Take Delivery of Capesize, & Charter Out

Baltic Trading Limited has accepted delivery of the first of two new bulk carriers, 'Baltic Tiger', a 179,185 dwt Capesize vessel, and found a time charter for the vessel without delay. The Baltic Tiger delivered to its charterer, Swissmarine Services S.A., has commenced a spot market-related time charter for 10.5 to 13.5 months. The rate for the spot market-related time charter, which is subject to the completion of definitive documentation, is based on 102.75% of the average of the daily rates of the Baltic Capesize Index (BCI) published by the Baltic Exchange, as reflected in daily reports.

Diana Shipping Nets $ 17.4 mln 3Q Loss

Diana Shipping Inc. today reported a net loss of $17.4 million and net loss attributed to common stockholders of $18.8 million for the third quarter of 2015, compared to net income of $7.7 million and net income attributed to common stockholders of $6.3 million reported in the third quarter of 2014. Time charter revenues were $38.9 million for the third quarter of 2015, compared to $45.1 million for the same quarter of 2014. The decrease in time charter revenues was mainly due to decreased time charter rates in the quarter and was partly offset by revenues derived from the increase in ownership days resulting from the enlargement of our fleet.
