Bulk Carrier Management JV Established in Singapore

Taiwan-based dry bulk shipowner Wisdom Marine Group and Singapore-based ship management company Synergy Group have announced a new joint venture (JV).Wisdom Synergy Ship Management (WSSM) will be headquartered in Singapore with key operational centres in Taiwan and India and will provide technical management for Wisdom’s diverse fleet.Last year, Wisdom chose Synergy Group to provide management services for a portion of its fleet.The JV cements a collaborative relationship established in 1999 by James Lan, Chairman of Wisdom Marine Group.

Claus Gronborg has been appointed CEO of Maersk Product Tankers – one of the largest product tanker owners in the world.Gronborg takes over the leadership of Maersk Product Tankers on October 1 from Christian M. Ingerslev. Indonesia Jails Captain of Tanker Arrested for Illegal anchorage

The captain of a fuel tanker arrested by the Indonesian navy in May on suspicion of illegally anchoring in its waters has been jailed for 15 days and fined 200 million rupiah ($13,350), a navy spokesman said on Wednesday.The Nord Joy, a Panama-flagged oil products tanker, was detained on May 30 whilst anchored in Indonesian waters to the east of the Singapore Strait, one of the world's busiest shipping lanes.Indonesian navy officers asked for an unofficial payment of $375,000 to release the vessel, two people involved in the negotiations told Reuters at the time. The Indonesian navy denied any such payment was requested and said the vessel was being held for anchoring in its waters without a permit.

Indonesia Investigating Report Navy Asked for Payment to Release Tanker

Indonesia's head of the armed forces said on Friday that he is investigating a Reuters report that navy officers asked for a payment of $375,000 to release a fuel tanker detained last week on suspicion of anchoring illegally in its waters.Navy officers at the Batam naval base, just south of Singapore, requested the unofficial payment to release the Nord Joy fuel tanker, two security sources involved in the negotiations told Reuters.The incident comes after Reuters reported a dozen similar detentions last year. Ship managers Synergy Group converted a 1992-built, 126,000 cubic meters capacity Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) carrier into a Floating Storage Unit (FSU). The conversion was performed at Sembcorp Marine’s Admiralty Yard in Singapore.Synergy will manage, maintain and operate the FSU, which has a projected lifespan of 15 years. Genco Makes First Full Crew Change Under Singapore's New Rules

MOL Launches Ship Management, Training Businesses

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL) today announced that the company has established MOL Synergy Marine (Singapore) Pte. Ltd. jointly with Synergy Group , a ship management services group in Chennai, India, to provide ship management and crew training services. MOL Synergy hosted its grand opening ceremony on October 8 and has since started managing five MOL-operated vessels and established a crew training center with latest technology simulators in Chennai. Bulk Carrier Assists in Dramatic Rescue of 322

Crew members of the Synergy Managed bulker “Jupiter Bay” help two infants to safety who were among 322 people rescued from small overcrowded boats early on Saturday morning. Part of the humanitarian operation that the Italian Navy reports has seen the rescue of some 5200 people trying to cross from North African to Europe since Thursday June 5th. All 322 individuals were disembarked safely at the Italian Port of Pozzallo, Sicily on Saturday evening (7th).

Bulk Carrier, “Jupiter Bay”, managed by Synergy Group, was requested late on Friday night (2230 hrs, June 6) by the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre in Rome, to respond to a humanitarian search and rescue operation in the Mediterranean involving a large number of people in small boats. At the time the “Jupiter Bay”, 30,153 dwt, was on passage from Tunis to Gibraltar. The Isle of Man flagged vessel’s Master, Capt. SE Patia, with a full Indian crew, immediately responded and by 2330hrs was at the rendezvous point and in position to rescue some 322 persons…

FPSO Arrives in Brazil to Integrate Modules

The FPSO Cidade de Ilhabela, the floating oil and gas production, storage and offloading vessel scheduled to operate in the Sapinhoá field, Santos Basin, has arrived at the Brasa shipyard in Niterói (RJ) to finish lifting and integrating thirteen modules into its processing plant. The new platform was converted from an oil tanker at the CXG shipyard in China. The modules will be integrated at the Brasa shipyard in a partnership with companies SBM Offshore and the Synergy Group. The shipyard is also responsible for building thirteen of the eighteen modules for the FSPO’s processing plant.
