Cruise Ship Crewmember Medevaced Near Florida

An ailing crewmember was medevaced from the cruise ship Serenade of the Seas, 80 miles west of Tampa, Thursday, the U.S. Coast Guard said.A Serenade crewmember reported to Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg watchstanders the man was suffering from abdominal pain, and a Coast Guard flight surgeon recommended the man be brought ashore.An Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter aircrew medevaced the 34-year-old man and flew him to Tampa General Hospital in stableā€¦

The Coast Guard rescued a 57-year-old man Thursday 170 miles west of St. Petersburg.Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg command center watchstanders received a call via satellite phone at 1:24 p.m. from the master of the Mariya Moran, a 120-foot tug, stating a crew member was suffering from chest pains and was in need of medical attention.A Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew and an HC-130 Hercules airplane crew launched to assist and arrived at 4 p.m.Theā€¦

Ailing Tanker Crewman Medavaced off Florida

A tanker crew member reportedly suffering from heart attack like systems was medevaced 13 miles west of Egmont Key, Fla. on Monday, August 14.    A U.S. Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter air crew from Air Station Clearwater medevaced the 55-year-old man from the 550-foot liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) carrier Gaschem Stade, and brought him to Tampa General Hospital.

Coast Guard Rescues Man from Freight Ship

The U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) rescued a 54-year-old man, who was suffering from medical issues while aboard a 655-foot freight ship approximately 150 miles southwest of Tampa, Wednesday. At approximately 9:24 a.m., watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg, Fla., received notification from the ships agent that the master aboard a freight ship suffered a seizure while transiting to Brazil. Watchstanders launched an aircrew aboard an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater.

Coast Guard Medevacs 18-Year-Old From Cruise Ship

A Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater rescue crew medically evacuated an 18-year-old male from a cruise ship 250-miles southwest of Clearwater Beach, Fla. Tyler King, fell 20 ft. from the cruise ship's mast to the deck. King landed on his head causing head trauma, a hematoma behind the eye and a broken bone in his face. The Coast Guard received a call from a doctor on board the 739-ft. Carnival cruise ship Fantasy, home ported in Miami, Fla., reporting the male's condition and requesting Coast Guard assistance. Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater launched an HH-60 rescue helicopter and a C-130 search plane to assist in the medevac of King. The rescue crews arrived on scene and hoisted King into the rescue helicopter. King was transferred to Tampa General Hospital.
