ABS Head Wiernicki Sees Global Carbon Tax on Shipping on the Horizon

ABS chairman and CEO, Christopher J. Sanmar Delivers Compact Harbor Tug to Port of Bayonne

Sanmar has delivered a compact RAscal 1500 ASD tug to CCI Bayonne Pays Basque, which manages the Port of Bayonne in France.Based on the RAscal 1500 design series from Canadian naval architects Robert Allan Ltd, Göksu V is 14.95 meters long with a molded breadth of 8.3 meters and a least molded depth and navigational draft of 3 meters. It can achieve 16 tons of bollard pull and a speed of 10 knots.Göksu V is an ASD tug that has been specifically designed and developed for ship-handling in modern, but typically smaller harbor and port operations.

Odfjell Completes Terminal Expansion in Houston

Odfjell Terminals US (OTUS) reports it has completed the construction and commissioning of its Bay 13 at the Houston Terminal (OTH), adding nine new tanks, with a combined capacity of 204,000 barrels. Centerline Logistics Acquires Tugs and Barges from JMB Shipping

Seattle-based maritime transportation provider Centerline Logistics announced it has acquired a fleet of four liquid tank barges and four tugboats from maritime asset holding company JMB Shipping.The deal closed on February 23, and its terms were not disclosed. Prior to the acquisition, JMB Shipping was owned by JMB Capital Partners Lending, an investment firm that bid $115 million in 2021 to purchase a portion of Bouchard Transportation's tug and barge fleet after the New York-based marine transport company went bankrupt.

GTT Books Samsung Heavy Industries Order for 15 LNG Carriers Tank Designs

French engineering company GTT has received an order from Samsung Heavy Industries for tank designs of 15 new LNG carriers.GTT will design the tanks of these 15 vessels, which will each offer a capacity of 174,000 m3.The tanks will be fitted with the Mark III Flex membrane containment system developed by GTT.The delivery of the vessels is scheduled between the fourth quarter of 2026 and the fourth quarter of 2028.The South Korean shipyard placed an order on behalf of a leading LNG player, with no further details revealed.

Aussie Pumps Releases New Bronze Pump

Australian Pump Industries (Aussie Pumps) has launched a 4-inch NiAl bronze self-priming pump with hydraulic drive.The new pump, called the B4XRA/B HYD34, produces 2,200 lpm and can operate at up to 42psi. It can also lift water through a vertical suction lift of 6m.Aussie Pumps Chief Engineer John Hales said: “The pumps self-prime. You can see from the big tank that’s designed into the body. GTT Scoops Order for 8 Very Large LNG Carrier Tank Designs

French engineering company GTT has received an order from a Chinese shipyard for the tank design of eight new very large liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers.GTT will design the tanks for the eight LNG carriers, which will each offer five tanks with a total capacity of 271,000 m3.The tanks will be fitted with the NO96 Super+ membrane containment system developed by GTT.Delivery is scheduled between the second quarter of 2028 and the fourth quarter of 2029.No further details have been disclosed by the company at the time of the announcement.
