TAQA Bratani has awarded Solstad Farstad ASA a contract for the Platform Supply Vessel PSV Far Spica (2013, PSV 08 CD Design). The contract is the duration of TAQA’s mobile drilling Campaign in the UK Sector, which is approx. 18 Months,   with expected commencement in Q1 2018. Far Spica is currently trading the North Sea Spot Market. AGR Well Management Limited has awarded SOFF a contract for the PSV Normand Aurora (2005, P105 Design). The contract duration is for 1 well firm + 1 well options supporting West Hercules in the UK Sector and the commencement is expected to take place March 2018. The firm period has an estimated duration of 75 days. Normand Aurora is currently trading the North Sea Spot Market.

Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei, the Minister of Energy for the United Arad Emirates will open the OPITO Safety and Competency Conference – OSCC 2013 – which takes place in the Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi Hotel, Abu Dhabi on November 19, 2013. The offshore industry’s highest achievers were recognized at the 2013 Offshore Achievement Awards, with Malcolm Webb, chief executive of Oil & Gas UK, picking up the Significant Achievement accolade. The 27th awards ceremony, which saw a record attendance of 530 guests, took place at the Aberdeen Exhibition & Conference Centre and was hosted by Scottish comedian Kevin Bridges. The industry’s top talent was celebrated in categories which included Great Large and Great Small Company, Safety Innovations and Emerging Technology.

Scottish company develops vital new level of accuracy for locating casualties at sea. The new iPIRB, launched by MarineMTS and Telemar UK Limited locates and identifies marine casualties fast so that every effort can be concentrated on rescue and saving life. The technology was showcased  (Friday 16 November) at a launch hosted by the Maritime Rescue Institute at Stonehaven, and attended by marine industry operators including Taqa Bratani, Shell, Nexen, Marathon and Total, as well as Grampian Police.

Fairfield Energy, a North Sea-focused independent oil and gas company,  announced that the first well of a three well campaign in the Darwin area spudded on 23 October. The well is being drilled from the Ocean Nomad and is operated by Fairfield. The Darwin area includes the southern end of Block 211/27a (previously known as the NW Hutton field) together with an extension into Block 211/27e and lies approximately 130 km northeast of the Shetland Islands in the Northern North Sea.

Following a successful re-launch last year, the Society of Petroleum Engineers Aberdeen Section is again hosting the Offshore Achievement Awards with the support of main sponsor TAQA Bratani. This year will see the ceremony move to the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre to meet the huge demand for spaces at the event in March 2012. Over 70 entries were received for the 2012 awards, which took place at Ardoe House Hotel in Aberdeen in front of around 400 people. Winners included Expro Group, AMEC and 3sun Group, with Professor Alex Kemp picking up the Lifetime Achievement award.

Shell U.K. Limited (Shell),Esso Exploration and Production UK Limited, (ExxonMobil), Mobil North Sea LLC (ExxonMobil) and Enterprise Oil U.K. Limited (Shell) completed the final sale and transfer of a number of northern North Sea assets to TAQA Bratani Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Abu Dhabi National Energy Company PJSC (TAQA) on Dec. 1, 2008. The assets include equity and operatorship of Tern, Kestrel, Eider, Pelican, Cormorant North and South Cormorant fields (TENC-CA) and related infrastructure, a non-operated interest in Hudson, and equity interests in the Sullom Voe Terminal and Brent System. TAQA Bratani will assume responsibility for the decommissioning liabilities relating to these fields and infrastructure.
