Taylor Made Group President & COO to Retire

The Taylor Made Group has announced that President and Chief Operating Officer, Andy Jobbins, will retire at the close of the company’s current fiscal year, effective October 1, 2015. Jobbins was promoted to his current position in 2010, after serving as Trend Marine Products Managing Director and Taylor Made Group’s International Managing Director — responsible for their facilities in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand. “We wish Andy health, happiness, and the very best as he enters his retirement,” said Dennis Flint, Chairman and CEO of The Taylor Made Group. The Taylor Made Group will be conducting a search of external and internal candidates in order to fill the position with a suitable replacement.

Divers Replace USS Taylor CPP Hub, Avoid Dry-Docking

The Controllable Pitch Propeller (CPP) Hub of the 'USS Taylor' (FFG 50) was replaced underwater in Souda Bay, Greece, the warship having earlier suffered significant damage to its propeller blades while underway in the Black Sea, apprises Norfolk Ship Support Activity (NSSA). "NSSA RMC Quality Assurance (QA) Department dispatched Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) technicians overseas to perform an NDT examination of the Main Reduction Gear, to assess its capabilities after the sustaining damages," said NSSA Hydraulics and Ship's Controls Branch Head Richard Krewinghaus. Patent for Colligo Marine Mooring System

Colligo Marine has received a United States Patent for its Bridle Plate Mooring System. The system eliminates line to line interference. Simple, lightweight and corrosion-resistant, the galvanized system maintains mooring line separation to minimize chafe and safely allows redundant lines to the mooring. Two versions are available. One with eyebolt shackles and a premium system with safety shackles that uses nuts with cotter pins for extra security. The Bridle Plate Mooring System is currently distributed by Taylor Made Products and available at marine retailers across the US.

Tidewater to Invest in Aging Fleet

New Orleans-based Tidewater Inc., operator of the world’s largest fleet of offshore supply vessels, plans to invest between $300m and $500m annually through 2011 to renew its vessels. Tidewater CEO and Chairman Dean Taylor made the announcement, saying the investment would position the company to take advantage of growing opportunities in international markets. The company recently accepted 16 new vessels and plans to receive another 50 by 2011. About 75 percent of the company’s fleet – 321 vessels – were built prior to 2000 and have an average age of 25 years. In addition to building new vessels, Tidewater also is considering purchasing vessels from other companies or acquiring competitors to replenish its fleet.

Taylor Made Environmental Opens New U.K. Facility

According to Trevor Goldsmith, managing director of Taylor Made Environmental, Europe, Ltd, the new facility includes a 5,000 sq. ft. warehouse, which is being stocked with over $1.7 million in inventory,and 2,000 sq. ft. of office space. There are also three fully operational workshops for repair and refurbishment of equipment. The new facility is being staffed by 16 employees, including five field engineers and other sales, service and administrative personnel. Goldsmith stated that Taylor Made Environmental will be able to provide 24-hour deliveries from stock anywhere in Europe for most popular items.

Taylor Made Appoints New Sales Director

Taylor Made Environmental has elected Ned Trigg to the position of international and domestic OEM sales director. Trigg will be responsible for all aspects of sales operations, including assigning OEM territories, OEM relations and coordinating requirements between sales and production, applications and engineering. Upon receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from North Carolina State University in 1987, Trigg joined Marine Development Corporation (MDC) as an applications engineer. Two years later, he became an OEM sales manager and called on key domestic accounts for over 10 years. In 1997 he was given the added responsibility of Southeast Asia.

Taylor Made Debuts New Series of Air Conditions

Taylor Made Environmental has announced a family of redesigned compact, lightweight, high-efficiency marine air conditioning systems. The new self-contained seawater-cooled units are being sold under the Cruisair and Marine Air Systems brand names. Available in 5,000, 7,000, 10,000, 12,000 and 16,000 BTU capacities, the systems have been re-engineered with new compressors and evaporator coils, resulting in smaller size, lower weight, reduced amperage draw and improved reliability. According to Frank Marciano, president of Taylor Made Environmental, the new-design packaging applies to Marine Air Systems patented Vector Compact and Cool Mate series products, and Cruisair StowAway Compact (SXF) and Zephyr models.

Taylor Made to Supply for Swiftships Vessel

Taylor Made Environmental has been chosen to supply the air conditioning system for a new 110 ft. vessel being built by Swiftships in Morgan City, La. The vessel is being built for the National Park Service for operation in the Florida Keys, and is being fitted with an extra high capacity air conditioning system for the tropical climate. Taylor Made Environmental is supplying a 15-ton Marine Air Systems reverse-cycle modular 3-stage chiller with Hydromatic controls and 11 air handling units totaling 177,000 BTUs. The scope of work includes extensive custom design, applications engineering and technical support. The system will be delivered to Swiftships in December 2003.
