Solstad Offshore ASA (SOFF) says it has entered into a frame agreement with Technip Norge AS and Technip UK Limited (Technip) to supply vessels for trenching, construction and subsea services. The deal’s commercial terms have not been disclosed. The frame agreement, which is valid for 2016-2018, will enable Technip to utilize Normand Progress, Normand Pioneer, Normand Ranger and Normand Mariner. North Sea operator Technip UK Limited pleaded guilty to a breach of regulations covering health and safety of workers which lead to the death of a rigger, and has been fined £160,000, the U.K. Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) reported. Technip UK Limited admitted a breach of regulation 5 of the Merchant Shipping and Fishing Vessel (Health and Safety at Work) Regulations 1997 at Aberdeen Sheriff Court today in relation to a March 2009 incident which caused the death of David Stephenson, who was working as rigger on the U.K.-flagged dive support vessel Wellservicer operated by Technip UK. The vessel had left the Netherlands for Aberdeen and stopped three miles outside of the harbor for trials and tests which included testing of the forward bell.

Farstad Shipping ASA has been awarded charter contracts with a value of about US$ 58-million. Statoil has awarded contracts to PSV Far Spica (2013, PSV 08 CD, 4,000 DWT) and PSV Far Scotsman (2012, PSV 08 CD, 4,000 DWT) to support the Statoil drilling campaign on the coast of East Africa. Commencement is expected to take place in April 2013. The duration of the contracts will be approx. 9 months, with a further 9 month option. Both vessels will leave the North Sea during the month of March.

To celebrate the docking of VENTURER at the Drydocks World – Singapore yard, the vessel owners, Technip UK Limited, awarded the shipyard a check for nearly $16,000. This is the highest recognition a shipyard can obtain under Technip’s Safety Incentive Scheme for docking projects. These funds were awarded by the ship’s master, Mr. Alan Morris, and will be distributed to charity at the discretion of the shipyard’s workers who dealt with the VENTURER’s repairs and docking.
