JASNAOE Awards Go to MOL Group

Japanese shipping giant Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) announced that the Beluga Ace, the first ship of its "FLEXIE series" next-generation car carriers, and both the Sunflower Satsuma and Sunflower Kirishima ferries, which are operated by its group company, Ferry Sunflower Limited, have received the "Ship of the Year 2018," and "Large Passenger Ship Sector Award," respectively.It marks double awarding for the group companies, said a press note."This is MOL's sixth Ship of the Year Award, and marks the second year in a row that MOL has received honor; its 20,000 TEU containership MOL Truth won for 2017," it added.The Ship of the Year Award…

MOL Methanol Carriers Win Technology Awards

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) announced that a series of three MOL-operated 50,000 DWT methanol carriers — the Taranaki Sun, Manchac Sun, and Cajun Sun - received the "Technology Special Prize" in the Ship of the Year 2016 awards sponsored by The Japan Society of Naval Architects and Ocean Engineers (JASNAOE). Every year, the Ship of the Year judges select the made-in-Japan vessels that represent the highest levels of technology, design and social responsibility. The Technology Special Prize goes to the most technologically advanced ships, and only four vessels, including the series of three MOL methanol carriers selected this year, have received this award.

Barge Master Wins Innovation Award at OTC

The Barge Master T40 motion compensated knuckle boom crane has been recognized for technological innovation, winning the Spotlight on New Technology Small Business Award at this year’s Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) in Houston. Barge Master develops motion compensation systems for the maritime industry that compensate vessel motions, creating a platform that is not moving with respect to the stationary fixed world. The systems are developed to increase the safety and workability of offshore lifting operations.

GE O&G Wins Two Technology Awards at OTC

GE Oil & Gas has received two Spotlight on New Technology awards from the 2013 Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) for two new products that address the challenges of deepwater drilling. The awards showcase the latest and most advanced hardware and software technologies that are leading the offshore exploration and drilling industry into the future. RamTel Plus System and ROV Subsea Display Panel. Blowout preventers (BOP) are critical components to drilling operation safety and are used on all wells, both on and offshore. GE’s RamTel Plus System and Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) Display provide the industry with real-time, electronic measurements of the BOP’s ram position and the pressure required to actuate the blades and/or sealing elements.

Abakan Recieves Award for Subsea Pipeline Technology

Adding to a collection of innovation and technology awards, Abakan Inc. announced that its proprietary CermaClad clad pipe product was awarded the "Subsea Pipeline Technology of the Year" award by the Pipeline Industries Guild. MesoCoat, an Abakan subsidiary that developed the CermaClad technology, received the award at the Pipeline Industries Guild National Dinner in London on March 12. The CermaClad high-speed, large-area clad pipe technology produces a superior metallurgical clad pipe product for the oil and gas industry, where availability of metallurgical clad pipes and the associated lead time have been a major concern. 22 Seaports to Receive AAPA Awards

The American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA), a trade group representing port authorities throughout the Western Hemisphere, has selected 22 seaports to be recognized for exemplary projects, programs and initiatives at its annual awards event later this summer. The awards, for achievements in facilities engineering, environmental improvement, information technology and communications, will be presented to winning ports at a Sept. 14 luncheon in conjunction with AAPA's 100th Annual Convention in Seattle (https://www.aapa2011.org/main.aspx), which runs Sept. 11-15. * the Port of Long Beach, winner of the 2011 Dan Maynard Communications Award for Overall Excellence, which is bestowed on the port earning the most award points in AAPA's Communications Awards Program competition.

Ports Honored at AAPA Awards Luncheon

Twenty seven ports were recognized today for exemplary projects and initiatives at the American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA) annual Awards Luncheon, held in conjunction with AAPA’s 2003 annual convention in Curacao, Netherlands Antilles. Winners were announced in the association’s national Communications, Information Technology, Environmental Improvement and Facilities Engineering Competitions. Engraved plaques were bestowed at the ceremony upon the Port of Tacoma and the Port of Portland, winners in of this year’s Information Technology Awards; The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, the Port of Portland, the Virginia Port Authority and the Port of Tacoma, winners of the Environmental Improvement Awards; the Port of Vancouver, U.S.A.
