Experienced maritime technology and ship management executive Johan Gustafsson has joined learning and operational technology company Ocean Technologies Group as Chief Revenue Officer.Based in the group’s Norwegian office, Gustafsson will lead account management, customer support and sales teams based globally across Ocean Technologies Group companies. He will report to group CEO Manish Singh.Gustafsson’s experience in maritime technology businesses spans two decades with blue-chip organizations including Transas, Wartsila and most recently with Wallem Group, as its Chief Operating Officer.

Scott Phillips has been appointed President of Hiab crane manufacturing division of Cargotec group as of 1 October 2018. He will be a member of the Cargotec Executive Board and report to CEO Mika Vehviläinen. Scott Phillips joins Cargotec from General Electric where he holds the position of Vice President and CEO Mining. Prior to that, he has during his 28 years' career held various global leadership positions in the construction and mining industries, working for Sandvik and Caterpillar Inc., among others. Marine electronics group Navico is aiming for a top three position in the commercial maritime sector within 3-5 years. Maritime Reporter & Engineering News seeks to find out from Jose Herrero, MD,  the plans to accomplish the feat. Navico is a strong player in the recreational boating sector, claiming a 32% market share and well versed in investing in growth both organically and through acquisition, including a commitment to product development. Its ambitions in a crowded commercial sector will have to be backed by a continuation of this successful formula.

Michel van Roozendaal (M.Sc. Aerospace Engineering; MBA INSEAD, Fontainebleau; b. 1963) has been appointed President of the MacGregor business area. He will be a member of Cargotec's Executive Board and report to President and CEO Mika Vehviläinen. Michel van Roozendaal joins from Ingersoll-Rand where he has been heading the Thermo King Global Marine, Rail and Bus businesses. Prior to this he has held global general management roles with companies such as United Technologies, Danaher, JCI and Honeywell. With over 25 years in technology businesses with exposure to product development, manufacturing and sales, van Roozendaal has been responsible for delivering integrated solutions to customers in a variety of different fields. The board of directors of General Dynamics has elected S. Daniel Johnson to be executive vice president, Information Systems and Technology, effective January 1, 2015, to succeed David K. Heebner, who has informed the company of his intention to retire on December 31, 2014. Johnson will also continue in his role as president of General Dynamics Information Technology, a business unit of General Dynamics. In announcing the board's action, Phebe N. Novakovic, chairman and chief executive officer, said, "David Heebner has had an exemplary career at General Dynamics, having served in leadership positions in all of our defense businesses and at corporate headquarters. He has been an invaluable resource for the entire General Dynamics team and he will be greatly missed.

Northrop Grumman Corporation will appoint Andrew Tyler chief executive for the United Kingdom and Europe, effective July 1, 2013. In this new position, Tyler will play a leading role in supporting the company's current programmers, developing strategies for growth and identifying new business opportunities for the company's activities in the U.K. and Europe, including NATO countries. He joins Northrop Grumman from Siemens' Marine Current Turbines where he was chief executive officer. Prior to that he was chief operating officer at Defense Equipment & Support (DE&S) in the U.K.

Kvaerner Plc has agreed to sell its maritime and technology unit Kvaerner Maritime for $15.9 million in cash. Separately, the group will also sell its Fjellstrand shipyards in Norway for $12.2 million to a consortium consisting of the management of Kvaerner Fjellstrand and other local investors. Kvaerner said it would sell Oslo-based Kvaerner Maritime to a consortium consisting of the management and staff of the company, and Reiten & Co. ASA. Reiten is a privately held financial house, based in Oslo, which invests in small technology businesses. The group said the sale of Kvaerner Maritime would not affect its accounts, though the sale of Kvaerner Fjellstrand would result in a small accounting loss.
