Troy Container Hire New IT Manager

Mr. Towner’s management of Troy Container Line’s website application development and enterprise architecture will support enhanced quality and customer service for web users. Mr. Towner joins Troy Container Line with 20 years of experience in the information technology industry. His background includes developing financial applications as well as enterprise resource planning with a focus on technology architecture components.

OceanConnect Announces New Equity Partner

Booz Allen Hamilton concludes that OC is bringing efficiencies to the marine industry. BMT Acquires New Company

BMT Defence Services Ltd, a subsidiary of British Maritime Technology Ltd (BMT), the multi-disciplinary engineering and technology consultancy, has today acquired Bertram Martin Consulting Ltd (BMC), the engineering investment appraisal and cost modelling consultancy. BMC is well known throughout the defence industry for its work in forecasting the through-life costs of major design and procurement projects and appraising potential research and development investments. It has also applied this expertise to the offshore industry. BMC will become a business unit of BMT Defence Services, the naval engineering and design services subsidiary, reporting to Managing Director Andrew Tyler.

Rhine Shipping Goes Online

Dutch oil, chemicals and storage group Petroplus is one of the partners to launch an Internet-based portal and online exchange to transform the traditional Rhine-based shipping sector. Shippers, integrated barge owner companies, independent barge brokers and individual barge owners will have the opportunity to conduct business online through this portal, Petroplus said in a statement. The other founding shareholders of the project are BP Amoco, shipping and tank storage firm Royal Vopak and Germany's Marquard & Bahls AG which trades under the brand names Mabanaft and Oiltanking. The project is supported by the Rhine Barge Owners Association, Petroplus added. Management and technology consultancy Booz Allen & Hamilton will provide strategy and e-technology services to the venture.
