Singapore Remains World's Top Maritime Hub

Singapore has held onto its spot atop the list of the world's best maritime cities, according to a recent report from classification society DNV and Menon Economics.The 2022 edition of the Leading Maritime Cities (LMC) report launched Thursday provides fresh insights into which global hubs offer the best infrastructure, technology, finance, and world-class talent, to help the maritime community connect and prosper.There have been many dramatic developments since the last edition of the LMC report was published in 2019. For one, we are still living with the pandemic.

Bahri Successfully Concludes ‘SAIFI’ Program

Bahri, a global leader in logistics and transportation, has successfully completed the first edition of ‘SAIFI’, a summer training program for undergraduate students in the Kingdom, launched jointly by the Ministry of Labor and Social Development (MOLSD) and the Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF).Aimed at training and developing practical skills among the country’s youth, the four-week internship program ran from 8 July until 2 August, with the participation of 15 male and female undergraduate students.Allowing the participants the opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of the various aspects of the company’s operations and the maritime industry in general…

SSY Establishes Finance Division

The partners of SSY announced the formation of SSY Capital LLC to serve global shipowners in the capital markets. The new unit will be led by Tom Kane, a leading American finance expert with particular expertise in international finance. SSY Capital will offer financial products tailored to its clients’ needs. Several products will be available to clients, including project and asset finance facilities, a variety of lease and debt financing structures, as well as non-traditional forms and capital sources. SSY recently celebrated its 125th anniversary. In the last 20 years, SSY has expanded its traditional broking expertise to include maritime consultancy and research, gas, chemicals, containers and freight derivatives.
