U-Ming VLOCs Protected by Nippon Antifouling System

U Ming’s 2017-built 187,888dwt bulk carrier Cape Galaxy is one of twenty vessels to have benefited from the efficiency gains achieved with Nippon Paint Marine’s A-LF-Sea low-friction antifouling

Grand Wisdom, the second very large ore carrier (VLOC) to join the U-Ming Marine Transport fleet, has been delivered with a protective hull coating from Nippon Marine Paint’s A-LF Sea product range.Delivered in December from Beihai Shipbuilding Heavy Industry’s shipyard in Qingdao, China, Grand Wisdom is the second in a pair of eco-friendly bulkers to join the owner’s 48-strong fleet. New VEM Technology Leads for Royston

Diesel power specialist Royston said it will showcase new developments for 2018, including Vessel Energy Monitoring (VEM), at the International Workboat Show.VEM technology, which provides information about a vessel’s architecture and energy levels, as well as efficiency improvement recommendations, is part of Royston’s enginei product, which delivers cost savings and operational efficiencies for offshore vessel and workboat operators.The system records fuel consumption data from bunkers and individual engines, with data provided onboard and onshore.

Optimarin BWT Retrofit Orders Grow

Optimarin has signed contracts with Wisby Tankers and Hoëgh Autoliners to install its market proven Optimarin Ballast System (OBS) on five existing vessels. The agreement, which comes six months after the Norwegian ballast water treatment (BWT) specialist became the first company to win USCG approval, will see Optimarin fitting units on three bitumen tankers for Wisby and two Hoëgh Autoliners RoRo ships. CAE USA Names New Tech Director

CAE USA marine systems has named Capt. William H. Luebke to the newly created position of director of technology, effective Jan. Luebke, who just retired from the U.S. Navy, will work with the division's existing management team to set, monitor and evaluate technical standards, as well as develop new engineering approaches to bring the best marine control solutions to market.
