Teledyne TSS Launches New Gyrocompass

Teledyne TSS is launching the latest addition to its Saturn product range at the Ocean Business exhibition with the introduction of its fiber-optic marine gyrocompass. This is an entirely new product from the gyro-compass manufacturer. It is specifically aimed at the commercial shipping, fast ferry and superyacht markets. The new Saturn gyro also includes attitude reference capabilities which make it an suitable for dynamically positioned platforms and for the provision of full attitude data for hydrographic survey vessels. The Saturn 30 and 50 surface versions are designed as a solid state attitude and heading reference system (AHRS) and primary navigation sensor.

NCS Survey Hires Goldsworthy

NCS Survey, an Acteon company, has appointed Simon Goldsworthy as business development manager in its Aberdeen office. Goldsworthy will be responsible for building relationships with existing and potential clients and growing NCS Survey’s presence in the offshore industry globally. Having been active in the offshore industry for more than 18 years, he has already demonstrated a successful track record in new business development. Before joining NCS Survey, Goldsworthy was in global commercial roles within both Sonardyne International and Teledyne TSS.

Meridian Gyros Achieves China Type Approval

The Meridian Standard and Meridian Surveyor gyro compasses manufactured by Teledyne TSS have been given type approval by the China Classification Society. The approval was granted after the Society inspectors completed a detailed study of the gyros, their performance and reliability and the manufacturing processes and quality control methods employed at the Teledyne TSS factory in Watford, U.K. The approval will now open the Chinese shipbuilding and offshore survey markets for these products where it is expected that their performance and pricing will be welcomed.

Latest DMS-500 Sensor Range Launched at Oceanology

A new addition to the Teledyne TSS range of DMS-500 motion sensors is being launched at the Oceanology International exhibition in London March 13-15. The DMS-500 range is being developed specifically to meet the needs of users who require a top-quality motion sensor with Ethernet connectivity, but do not require the subsea-rated housings that typify Teledyne TSS products. The result is a complete range of sensors which incorporate a number of advanced and innovative features for applications such as Dynamic Positioning (DP), wave height monitoring and structural stress monitoring. The second phase of the product’s launch introduces the Heave range of sensors – DMS-525, DMS-550 and DMS-500H.

Teledyne TSS Adds Heave Capability to DMS 500

Following the successful launch of the new DMS-500RP motion sensor range in April, Teledyne TSS is expanding this product range with the introduction of the DMS-500H. This new sensor provides heave measurement to complement the roll and pitch capabilities of the launch model. This is expected to be welcomed by a variety of users in the marine and offshore markets where there is known to be a need for a high accuracy sensor with these capabilities but at a lower cost and without the high performance subsea-rated housings that typify Teledyne TSS products.

A new range of motion sensors specially developed for commercial marine applications has been introduced by Teledyne TSS. The DMS 500 range has been launched to meet the needs of users who require a conservatively priced, top-quality motion sensor with Ethernet connectivity, but without the high integrity subsea housings that typify Teledyne TSS products. The newest addition to the range is the DMS-500H, which can be used to measure heave and has important applications such as in support of crane and winch control and helideck operations.

MERIDIAN GYROS APPROVED BY RUSSIANS

Teledyne TSS has been granted type approval by the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping for its Meridian Standard and Meridian Surveyor gyrocompasses. The certification follows a detailed appraisal of the products and the manufacturing processes carried out at the modern Teledyne TSS factory in Croxley Green, UK. Customers in the important Russian shipbuilding market can now be assured that the Teledyne TSS gyrocompasses meet the highest standards of performance and manufacturing quality.
