Port of Savannah Takes Delivery of More Ship-to-Shore Cranes

Equipment For Deepwater Berth Delivered at NUTEP

A cargo of handling equipment for NUTEP terminal in the Black Sea port of Novorossiysk  was successfully delivered on board M/V Zhen Hua 19 to the Port of Novorossiysk.The equipment was supplied by Chinese producer ZPMC. The shipment include 3 STS cranes, 4 RTGs and 2 reachstackers. The terminal operator said the equipment is intended for the new deep-water Berth No. 38 built by NUTEP in 2019.The contracts for the supply of the three STS and four RTG were signed in June 2017; the reach stackers were ordered in January 2019. The overall contract value is USD 22.5 million under the DAT terms.The new STS with a track gage of 18 m, a cantilever span of 54 m and a lifting height above the berth of 40 m are the largest on the Russian Black sea coast…

Fairview Terminal Reaches 1 Million TEU Milestone

The British Columbia’s Port of Prince Rupert and DP World have marked a historic milestone as Fairview Container Terminal handled its millionth container (TEU) for the first time in a calendar year.The 40-foot TEU was loaded with dimensional lumber in Prince George before being shipped to Prince Rupert by train and loaded onto the COSCO Africa container ship to be sent to market.“DP World is proud to have achieved the million TEU milestone,” said Maksim Mihic, General Manager DP World (Canada) Inc. “We congratulate and thank the men and women whose hard work and dedication made this achievement possible. Three New Arctic-class Ships on Way to Yamal LNG Terminal

APM Terminals Acquires Reefer Terminal S.p.A.

APM Terminals and GF Group are pleased to announce the acquisition of 100% of Reefer Terminal S.p.A. by APM Terminals has been completed today. Terms and price were not disclosed. Reefer Terminal, the largest refrigerated terminal in the Mediterranean for more than thirty years handling 600,000 pallets per year, is also a world-class terminal for the handling of containers (275,000 TEU, 510 reefer plugs, 14.5 meter depth and 465 meter of quay) and general cargo. APM Terminals has acquired the Vado Ligure Reefer Terminal as part of the port master plan to create new supply chains to markets in Northern Italy, Southern France, Switzerland and Bavaria.

Salt, Potash Terminal at Barcelona Port

The ICL Group's Phoenix Plan is breathing new life into the centuries-old salt and potash mines located in the Bages district of central Catalonia. The project covers various fields, such as building a potash and a vacuum salt plant, new rail accesses and a specialised terminal at the Port of Barcelona. CMA CGM Announces New Dry Port in Baghdad

After more than thirty three years of continuous presence in Iraq, the CMA CGM Group will open a new bonded Dry Port near Baghdad in the Abu Ghreib area, in Iraq, in June 2013. Exclusively managed and operated by CMA CGM, the Dry Port will be the only one in Iraq, giving customers the opportunity to custom clear their cargo near Baghdad instead of Umm Qasr, according their convenience time. The Dry Port will connect to CMA CGM’s inland transportation network, with a possible railway connection three kilometers away from the site and fast in bond transit from Umm Qasr. The storage facilities for full containers, LCL and refrigerated cargo will benefit from 24 hours surveillance and security services, keeping the cargo safe at all times.

Container Cranes: Turkish Ports Order From MES

Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co. (MES) wins crane order from Yilport Container Terminal & Port Operators Inc. (Yilport). Yilport Container Terminal and Port Operators Inc. (Yilport) is a 100% subsidiary company of Yildirim Holding Inc. (Yildirim) dealing with import/export of coal, iron ore, fertilizer as well as shipping. The order is for 8 container cranes, consisting of four container cranes in Gemlik Terminal and four container cranes in Gebze Terminal, and their deliveries are expected in February 2014 for Gemlik Terminal and August 2014 for Gebze Terminal. Port Everglades Cruise Terminal Passes Inspection

Port Everglades received a certificate of occupancy for the new Cruise Terminal 18, two weeks before the official grand opening on November 6 and in time to test the building's functionality before welcoming Royal Caribbean International's 5,400-passenger Oasis of the Seas. The City of Hollywood awarded the certificate to the Port on Friday, October 23, which is earlier than anticipated and will give Royal Caribbean the opportunity to test the terminal operationally with the 2,250-passenger Enchantment of the Seas. The Broward County Public Works Department's Seaport Construction Division managed the completion of this $75m project in 22 months.

Crude Terminals: Platforms for Iraqi Recovery

Iraq's recovery depends on oil revenues, and the Khawr Abd Amaya Oil Terminal, better known here as KAAOT and the nearby larger Al Basra Oil Terminal (ABOT), are the platforms upon which Iraq's economy depends. Nearly all of Iraq's revenue comes from crude oil, and nearly all of it leaves the country here. These two crude oil transfer terminals in the Northern Arabian Gulf or 'NAG' can accommodate large tankers carrying Iraq's crude oil output that is pumped to the oil platforms (known as OPLATS) by pipeline from Basra.
