Kalmar Provides Green RTG to Miami Port

Kalmar, the provider of eco-efficient cargo handling equipment and automated terminal solutions, , has signed a deal to supply six Kalmar Zero Emission Rubber-tired Gantry cranes (RTGs) to South Florida Container Terminal, LLC.The cranes will be equipped with a busbar energy system and operator assist features like auto steering and container stack profiling, said a press statement from Kalmar, part of Cargotec.The order was booked in Cargotec's 2019 Q1 order intake with delivery scheduled to be completed in early 2020. This will be the first container terminal in the United States that has 100% zero-emission RTG cranes. Konecranes Wins New Order for RTG System from Indonesia

The smart terminal solutions provider Konecranes has received another order for the delivery of an Automated RTG (ARTG) System to PT Prima Terminal Petikemas, a subsidiary of state-owned port operator PT Pelabuhan Indonesia I (Persero).The ARTG system on order includes 12 ARTG cranes with associated software, interfaces and services, said a press release from the company.The 12 ARTGs will be delivered in January 2020 to Belawan Container Terminal, Phase 2 in Medan, North Sumatra. They will be identical to those already delivered to PT Prima Multi Terminal in Kuala Tanjung, Indonesia.Indonesia is a strategically important country for Konecranes.

Cargotec, JCE Invest AB Form Joint Bulk Business

Cargotec has signed an agreement with JCE Invest AB to establish a joint venture, Bruks Siwertell Group, specialised in dry bulk handling. The new joint venture will own Siwertell AB (previously part of Kalmar Business Area within Cargotec) and BRUKS Holding AB (previously part of JCE Group). Both companies are world-leading suppliers of bulk materials handling solutions. Cargotec will own 48% of the shares in Bruks Siwertell Group, and JCE Invest AB will own the rest, 52%. The ownerships are included to venturers' consolidated financial statements in accordance with the applicable regulation. The transaction has been signed and closed on 9 May 2018. "This joint venture supports Cargotec's strategy to focus on container ports, heavy industrial segment and logistics.

Newark Container Terminal Handles Record Volumes

Port Newark Container Terminal (PNCT) handled a record number of container volumes without disruption to its customers following its January 2017 upgrade to the N4 terminal system. The move to Navis N4 is part of PNCT’s $500 million infrastructure modernization project that is expected to nearly double the terminal’s capacity by 2019. Located within the Port of New York and New Jersey—the largest port on the East Coast and third largest in the U.S.—PNCT is among the most important terminals responsible for moving cargo throughout the nation and abroad, handling 1.3 million TEUs annually.

GAC, Forth Join Forces to offer Mooring, Terminal Solutions

GAC UK and Forth Logistics Marine Services (FLMS) have formed a partnership to provide mooring and related terminal services around the UK. Formed on the back of a long term contract in the River Forth with an oil major to be announced later in the year, the pairing combines FLMS’s years of marine experience with GAC’s expertise and reputation for integrity as the leading ship agent in the UK and in the River Forth. According to GAC UK MD Herman Jorgensen, the winning combination will provide “safe, strong operations with unrivalled 24/7 customer focus”. The fleet of six line handling vessels includes two new Alnmaritec Wave Handler vessels currently being built at the company’s Port of Blyth yard. Three more vessels are en route from Qatar a sixth is coming from Australia this autumn.

Royal Vopak to Acquire EXMAR's FRSU Share

EXMAR and Vopak announce that discussions are currently taking place to explore the possibility of an acquisition of EXMAR’s share in its floating LNG storage and regasification business (FRSU’s) by Vopak. As the outcome of these discussions between EXMAR and Vopak is currently unknown, no further details are disclosed. Material updates will be communicated via press releases. Vopak has earmarked storage and handling of LNG/gas as one of its strategic focus areas. Therefore Vopak is looking for strategic opportunities to strengthen its presence as a service provider in the LNG infrastructure market. Today, Vopak jointly owns and operates two land-based storage and regasification terminals, the GATE terminal in the Port of Rotterdam, and the TLA terminal in Altamira, Mexico.

SembMarine Snaps up GraviFloat

Singapore’s Sembcorp Marine (Sembmarine) has increased its stake in Norway-based Gravifloat AS to 56%, which it intends to fully acquire eventually. In a statement on Wednesday, SembMarine says it acquired a 44% stake in Gravifloat for US$38 million ($52.6 million), in addition to the 12% stake it already owns. The agreement also allows Sembmarine to eventually increase its stake by a further 44% to 100% through an equity purchase at the same price. Gravifloat designs and holds parents for a suite of redeployable, modularised solutions based on its unique near-shore floating yet gravity-based LNG terminal solutions. Cargotec's Kalmar Wins Order for Melbourne's Container Terminal

Kalmar, part of Cargotec, has won a significant contract to deliver container handling equipment and related automation technology worth of more than EUR 40 million to Port of Melbourne's new container terminal, operated by Victoria International Container Terminal Ltd (VICTL). The order includes 12 automated stacking cranes and 11 automated shuttle carriers and they will be delivered during 2016. Kalmar's partnership with VICTL, a consortium comprised of Philippines-based International Container Terminal Services Incorporated (ICTSI) and Australia's Anglo Ports, marks a milestone in Australia's port infrastructure development. Australia has shown the way in port automation and Kalmar has played a key role in introducing innovative automation solutions to the country's leading ports.

LNG America & Liquiline Join Hands in Marine Fuel Market

LNG America and Liquiline announce an agreement to jointly develop commercial offerings for LNG marine fuel markets in the North American Pacific Northwest and the transport of LNG in ISO containers to remote markets in Hawaii and Alaska. The parties to the agreement explain that each brings unique skills and experience to the joint initiative:  Liquiline has pioneered the use of LNG ISO containers for LNG fuel markets in Northern Europe; LNG America is developing LNG distribution networks including America’s first Jones Act LNG bunker/shuttle vessels. Together, the joint effort will focus on the movement of LNG over long distance by ISO containers being moved by ship and the servicing of local markets by way of LNG bunker/shuttle vessels.

Wärtsilä Achieves 2013 Financial Target

"For Wärtsilä, 2013 was a year of varying activity within our different end markets. While the improvement in global vessel contracting was significant, power generation markets declined for the second consecutive year. Unfavourable exchange rates and some delayed deliveries at the end of the year led to a slightly weaker than expected net sales development. Profitability on the other hand developed well, reaching 11.2% for the full year. I am pleased with the resilience we have shown in reaching our profitability targets, despite the lower level of sales.

Wärtsilä to Provide Turnkey LNG Receiving Terminal in N. Finland

Wärtsilä says it has signed a turnkey contract to supply a liquefied natural gas (LNG) receiving terminal to be built in Tornio, northern Finland. The contract, valued at approximately EUR 100 million, has been made with Manga LNG Oy, a joint venture between the Finnish companies Outokumpu Group, Ruukki Metals Oy, Gasum Oy and EPV Energy Ltd. The contract is conditional on receipt of investment support and Manga LNG Oy's contracts with other parties, including the gas suppliers.

Container ID Software for Brazil Terminal Ordered from APS Technology

APS Technology Group, Inc., a leading provider of optical character recognition (OCR) and automation technology solutions for marine and intermodal container terminals, announced Terminal de Conteineres de Paranagua  (TCP), the third largest container terminal in Brazil, has chosen APS Technology for gate OCR and rail OCR solutions at its terminal. This is the first on-dock rail OCR solution to be installed in South America. TCP is implementing the APS Automated Gate System OCR solution and rail OCR solution to boost efficiency and eliminate congestion. The solution will automate the container identification process at the gate and rail entry and exit points with the collection of high-resolution images.

Cargotec Names Kho Senior Vice President

Cargotec appoints Frank Kho to lead terminal solutions development and container terminal projects. Mr. Kho brings with him over 20 years of industry experience in several senior management positions at world's leading port operators, such as the Antwerp terminals of PSA and several terminals of HPH. He has headed container operations with significant operational efficiencies in cost per unit moved and, most notably, with improved service levels. In Cargotec, Mr Kho will be responsible for leading the development of new solutions to enable customers' business processes run better as well as for defining and integrating solutions to specific needs of greenfield and brownfield container terminal projects.
