Harkand Names Brown to Gulf of Mexico Management Team

Global inspection, repair, maintenance (IRM) and light construction company Harkand informs it has made a key appointment by securing Mike Brown as general manager of diving services in North America. A U.S. Navy veteran, Brown has considerable experience of commercial diving in the offshore oil and gas sector having held number of senior positions in a career spanning more than 35 years. He was most recently working with Chet Morrison Contractors as general manager of the offshore construction division.

Simmons UK Double Up on Oil & Gas Deals

Simmons & Co in Aberdeen completed 14 deals in 2012 valued $2.3-billion, more than double the 2011 total value. The corporate finance advisers to the energy sector have played a significant role in many of the most prominent transactions that took place across the oil and gas service sector in 2012 including deals subsea, well services, drilling and completions sectors. Colin Welsh, chief executive officer at Simmons said: "Getting the best result for our clients in the current environment has been challenging because the market dynamics keep changing as new buyers emerge and the sector becomes more geographically diverse. It helps that we focus exclusively on energy because our market intelligence is always current".

Decommissioning Body Elects New Directors

Decom North Sea (DNS), the offshore oil & gas decommissioning forum, held its annual general meeting last night in St Andrews, with 10 new directors elected from across all sectors of the decommissioning industry. The meeting heard that the supply chain body now has 213 fee paying members. Attendees were also given an overview of Decom North Sea activity over the past year and an update on progress against the various strategic objectives. Brian Nixon, Decom North Sea’s chief executive, said: “We are delighted to have elected a board of experienced directors to Decom North Sea. These industry professionals bring experience and knowledge from various sectors of the industry, which is vitally important for DNS going forward.

Superior Energy Names Prejean VP

Superior Energy Services has appointed John Prejean as Vice President of Corporate Sales – Houston. Prejean will lead the Houston Corporate Sales Group identifying opportunities for sales growth and business efficiencies. He will focus upon securing large-scale projects that fulfill Superior Energy’s bundled services strategy and will support the goals of the EPM group. Prior to joining Superior, Prejean was most recently Houston sales manager for Parker Drilling Company. He has more than 20 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, working for oilfield-related companies including Tetra Technologies.
