Hempel’s Fouling Defence Product Hempaguard Applied to 500 Vessels

Leading marine coatings manufacturer, Hempel, announces - after only two and a half years on the market -  its award winning innovative fouling defence product Hempaguard has now been applied as a full vessel coating to 500 ships. This milestone was reached yesterday with the coating of a 61,614 dwt, 2011-built, container vessel. Environmental obligations are at the top of the agenda for all responsible shipping companies and Hempaguard was introduced to the shipping industry against a backdrop of rising bunkering costs, tightening environmental regulations and the introduction of mandatory Ship Energy Efficiency Management Plans (SEEMP).

Terex Scoops 2 IBJ Awards

Terex® Quaymate M50 mobile harbour crane is Crane of the Year – Dr. Rotterdam/Düsseldorf, 24 November 2014 – Terex Port Solutions (TPS) has been successful in two categories of this year’s awards, presented by the leading international specialist magazine International Bulk Journal (IBJ). In Rotterdam, TPS received the Crane of the Year award for its Terex® Quaymate M50 mobile harbour crane, launched in spring 2014. In addition Dr. Mathias Dobner, Vice President Development, Engineering & Operation at TPS, was named Personality of the Year. Since 2009, IBJ has presented these awards. They are considered some of the most sought-after prizes in the bulk materials handling market.

ClassNK-NAPA GREEN Wins IBJ Awards

Vessel performance monitoring and optimization solution ClassNK-NAPA GREEN was named the maritime industry’s top IT system by earning the IT Solutions Award at the International Bulk Journal (IBJ) Awards held at the Beurs-World Trade Center in Rotterdam on 17 November. The software solution, developed jointly by leading classification society ClassNK and leading global maritime software company NAPA, was recognized both as an advanced technical achievement and for reductions in fuel costs it has helped achieve and validate on actual vessels in service. GAC Wins Bulk Ship Agent 2013 Award

The GAC Group has been named the Bulk Ships Agent of the year in the 2013 International Bulk Journal (IBJ) Awards which salute the best in the global maritime bulk industry. The shipping, marine and logistics services provider was among 18 winners recognised at this year's IBJ Awards ceremony attended recently by around 400 representatives of the international shipping community at the Salle Wagram in Paris. Eric Barnard, Group Sales Director – Shipping, who accepted the Award on behalf of the Group, says: "A sharper focus on delivering strong support to the dry bulk sector is an intrinsic part of our five-year 'Vision Z – Global Performance' plan launched at the beginning of this year.

Cargotec Wins Ship Unloader Contract

Cargotec has won a significant order for two Siwertell ship unloaders to handle coal at Jorf Lasfar, on Morocco's Atlantic coast. The contract comes from the Jorf Lasfar Energy Company (JLEC) and includes repositioning two existing unloaders as well as installing the two new Siwertell units when they are delivered in 2013. The unloaders will suit a new jetty belt conveyor system with an increased travelling length at the Jorf  Lasfar coal-fired power plant, which is undergoing major expansion. Each Siwertell type ST 940-DOB unit will have a coal-unloading capacity of 2,400t/h. "Cargotec's Siwertell system is technically superior to the other systems offered: it is more efficient and environmental friendly," says Bertil Andersson, Sales Manager, Bulk Terminals.

PD Ports Shortlisted for Int’l Bulk Journal Awards

PD Ports has been shortlisted for the International Bulk Journal Awards 2009, in the category of Best Ship Loading/Unloading System. The awards, which take place in Amsterdam on 23rd November, will see PD Ports compete against four other entries, which include U.S. construction company Agrico Sales and German mobile pneumatic conveyors manufacturer Neuero. PD Ports is the only UK finalist in its category and has been shortlisted on the basis on the installation of the Siwertell equipment at Immingham. The Siwertell 5000s offers the bulk market an environmentally friendly solution for discharging dry bulk products such as cement, grain and fertilizers, due to its ability to minimize dust emissions. This is achieved through the equipment’s totally enclosed conveying line.
