Crowley Logistics Hires Bennett as SVP, GM

Crowley Maritime Corporation announced Brett Bennett will join the company August 3 as senior vice president and general manager of Crowley Logistics, succeeding Steve Collar, who retired last month after a 43-year career with Crowley. He will report to Ray Fitzgerald, Crowley’s chief operating officer, and work from the corporate headquarters in Jacksonville, Fla.Bennett comes to Crowley from Wallenius Wilhelmsen Solutions where he served as senior vice president and head of global terminals and stevedoring.

Marine solutions and logistics company P&O Maritime Logistics (POML) said it has appointed Martin Helweg as its new Chief Executive Officer. He will report to Mike Bhaskaran, DP World’s Chief Operating Officer for Logistics and Technology.For the past three years, Helweg has been responsible for P&O Maritime Logistics’ global operations. US Box Ship Rescues Iranian Mariners

A U.S.-flagged merchant vessel Maersk Kinloss rescued three Iranian mariners who had been stranded at sea for several weeks.The Maersk company informed U.S. Naval Forces Central Command (NAVCENT) of the December 18 rescue.The stranded mariners were transferred to the Omani coast guard, who are coordinating their return to Iran.

Philippine's Batangas Port Hits Record Cargo Volume in November

The Batangas International Port or locally known as the Batangas Pier in Philippines said that  Batangas Container Terminal (BCT), managed by listed Asian Terminals Inc.(ATI), has continuously stepped up its role as international trade facilitator in Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon) and has effectively helped decongest Metro Manila roads.Early in November, BCT achieved a new operations milestone as it broke through the 200,000-TEU (twenty-foot equivalent unit) cargo volume mark for the first time in a single year since its start-up in 2010.With this achievement and still a month to go before 2018 ends, BCT already surpassed its full-year cargo throughput of over 197,000 teus in 2017.

Bahrein Shipyard Signs Maersk Ship-Repair Deal

Arab Shipbuilding and Repair Yard (ASRY) signs a long-term contract to repair Maersk vessels on preferential terms With 35  years experience in the shipbuilding and repair business, ASRY will repair Maersk ships operating in the Persian Gulf as required. In 2011 the yard repaired nine Maersk ships. SMM Showcases Containership Propeller

Visitors to SMM 2006 won't be able to miss the enormous exhibit, symbolizing shipbuilding, displayed in front of the East Entrance of Hamburg Trade Fair. It will provide promotion for the 22nd shipbuilding, machinery & marine technology, international trade fair Hamburg from September 26th-29th. The 93t heavyweight is due to arrive at Hamburg Trade Fair on September 20 and will be lowered on to its stand. The prop is to be transported to the show straight from Waren on the Müritz in Mecklenburg-West Pomerania, the production location of Mecklenburger Metallguss GmbH (MMG). According to its manager Manfred Urban, MMG covers about a quarter of global requirements and as much as 60% of demand for propellers weighing over 80t.
