EWC Gets Philippines LNG Hub Permit

Australia’s Energy World Corp(EWC) said it has received a permit from the Philippines' department of energy (DoE) to construct an LNG hub at Pagbilao Grande island in Quezon province.The energy company, which produces and sells power and natural gas primarily in the Asia Pacific region, said in a stock exchange annoucement that DoE Secretary Alfonso G. Cusi on behalf of the department had issued Energy World Gas Operations Philippines, Inc. a permit to construct, own and operate an LNG import terminal and regasification facility on the Pagbilao Grande island.“The permit which was issued on 21 December 2018 forms an update to the original permit documentation and provides for a further construction period of 24 months from the permit issue date…

ExxonMobil Inks Deepwater Deal

According to reports, ExxonMobil's subsidiary, Esso Exploration International Limited, and Mitra Energy Limited (MEL) have entered into an agreement to explore for hydrocarbons in the deepwater Sandakan Basin southwest of the Philippine Islands. Under terms of the recently signed farm-in agreement, an ExxonMobil affiliate has acquired a 50 percent operating interest in Block SC 56. MEL retains a 50 percent equity interest in the block and will operate the 2D seismic acquisition phase of the exploration program. The oil exploration agreement covers approximately two million acres and is subject to approval by the Philippines Department of Energy. Source: Rigzone
