PTC & Sener Integrated Shipbuilding Solutions

PTC (Nasdaq:PMTC), The Product Development Company, and Sener announced plans to strengthen their alliance to deliver an integration between Sener’s FORAN system and PTC’s Windchill PLM software.  The integration will enable Sener’s shipbuilding customers to leverage Windchill’s enterprise PLM capabilities while managing FORAN CAD data within the same PLM platform ideally suited for complex, distributed, and large-scale product development. FORAN is Sener’s integrated CAD/CAM/CAE technology solution for the complete design of commercial and naval ships and offshore units, including forms definition, naval architecture calculations, hull structure, machinery, outfitting, electrical and accommodation design and manufacturing. PTC Reports 1Q Results

PTC, the product development company, reported revenue totaling $234.9 million for the first quarter ended December 30, 2000, compared to $239 million for the same period last year. Pro forma net income for the quarter, which excludes the amortization of intangible assets, was $19 million compared to $17.6 million for the year-ago period. Including the amortization of intangible assets, net income was $12.3 million, compared with $10.4 million for the same period in fiscal 2000. C. Richard Harrison, president and CEO, said: "We are pleased with the performance this quarter and the confirmation we are receiving from the market and our customers on the importance of product development as the core of competitive advantage.

Tianjin Standardizes on PTC Shipbuilding Solutions

PTC, the Product Development company, and Tianjin New Harbor Shipyard jointly announced that Tianjin New Harbor Shipyard has expanded its use of PTC Shipbuilding Solution, which includes CADDS5i to improve its design capabilities. With the expanded software implementation, Tianjin New Harbor Shipyard is standardizing on PTC Shipbuilding Solution as its manufacturing design platform. Tianjin New Harbor Shipyard believes that this decision will further accelerate its transformation into a modern international shipbuilding enterprise. The CADDS 5i solution enables users to refer to each other’s evolving designs and facilitate concurrent engineering in a fully digitized ship design and 3D modeling environment.

PTC Launches New Design Software

CBR reports that product development company PTC has announced the availability of CADDS 5i R14, a design software product for the shipbuilding industry, as well as other large assembly manufacturers, to support product development. CADDS 5i R14 is supported with a new version of CADDS 5i workgroup management software, Optegra 8, which helps engineering teams work together more effectively.

Ltd announced that Huangpu Shipbuilding has expanded its use of PTC Shipbuilding Solution, which includes CADDS 5i to improve its overall design capabilities. With the expanded software implementation, Huangpu Shipbuilding is standardizing on PTC Shipbuilding Solution as its manufacturing design platform. Huangpu Shipbuilding believes that this decision will further accelerate its transformation into a modern international shipbuilding enterprise.
