APL Rolls out Aloha Express Service

APL has unveiled its Aloha Express (AEX) service, a new fortnightly service directly connecting Central China, Korea, Japan to Hawaii. The AEX service promises cargo delivery from Shanghai, Busan and Yokohama to Honolulu in 19, 15 and 12 days respectively. “The AEX service introduces a new sea route in our portfolio to directly serve Asia and Hawaii. APL Saipan Makes Maiden Call to Guam

On 2 January, APL and Guam celebrated the New Year with APL Saipan’s maiden call at the Port of Guam, officially commencing the weekly service for the Guam Saipan Express (GSX) service. The US flagged APL Saipan joins its sister ship, the US flagged APL Guam which first arrived in Guam a year ago. The GSX service now has its frequency doubled, capacity increased by over two folds and transit time from the US Mainland to Guam and Saipan improved by three days. “APL’s enhanced GSX service is designed with the inputs of customers for customers. In particular, retailers in Guam and Saipan can now benefit from GSX’s improved frequency and transit time with a weekly arrival that is just ahead of every weekend, facilitating in-store inventory for weekend shoppers.

APL Doubles Frequency of Guam Saipan Express Service

APL has announced the introduction of a second vessel to its Guam Saipan Express (GSX) service. Serving both Guam and Saipan, the APL U.S. flagged service will be refined from a fortnightly to a weekly service. “The enhancement of the GSX service is timely as infrastructure development, tourism and commercial activities continue to build up in Guam. Being a trusted U.S. flagged carrier, APL aspires to actively contribute towards these developments with our container shipping services. The more frequent GSX service will speed up essential cargo shipments from the U.S. mainland to the islands, especially Guam where 75% of her inbound freight originate from the U.S. mainland,” said John Selleck, APL General Manager, Guam/Micronesia.

APL Guam Makes Maiden Call in Guam

On 1 January 2016, APL ushered in the New Year with its U.S-flagged vessel, APL Guam arriving at the island of Guam for the first time. The event marks the maiden inbound shipment to Guam via APL’s Guam Saipan Express (GSX) service. “We are thrilled to kick-start 2016 with the first cargo shipment on the GSX route,” said John Selleck, APL General Manager, Guam/Micronesia. “With 75% of Guam’s inbound freight originating from the U.S. mainland, the GSX service provides essential cargo shipments from the U.S. mainland to Guam and Saipan. APL launches U.S.-flagged Guam Saipan Express

APL today introduced a new fortnightly U.S.-flagged service to Guam and Saipan. The Guam Saipan Express (GSX) will connect with APL’s weekly U.S.-flagged Eagle Express service (EX1) in Yokohama, giving Guam and Saipan shippers an alternative for shipping from the U.S. mainland. Tinian Shipping Cites $33M Loss

Tinian Shipping & Transportation Inc. said it incurred losses of more than $33 million over 10 years of operations. Despite this, TSTI will continue to operate the ferry services. In return, TSTI is asking the CPA board of directors to waive its lease rentals or at least peg it at a minimal rate for 40 years. It also asked that it be allowed it to build a drydock facility for the repair and maintenance of its vessels.
