Heesen's Vida Departs for Maiden Voyage

The 55 metre Heesen superyacht Vida (formerly known as Project Antares) has left Dutch waters for her maiden voyage to the Mediterranean where she will meet her new owners. Vida underwent rigorous sea trials earlier in March. During four days of tests she exceeded her contracted top speed, reaching 16.4 knots with noise and vibration levels that remained in line with specifications."Thanks to her progressive 55-metre FDHF hull and two MTU 8V4000 M63 diesel engines, Vida offers frugal fuel consumption coupled with an efficient underwater profile that enables a remarkable 4,500 nautical mile range at her cruising speed of 13 knots," claimed the Dutch shipyard building superyachts.With a volume of 740 gross tons…

Burger Boat Appoint Thom Conboy Commercial Director

Burger Boat Company, celebrating its 150th anniversary, announce the appointment of Thom Conboy as its Commercial Director. As Commercial Director, Thom will be working closely with the shipyard in Manitowoc, WI to secure new construction, refit and repair projects as well as heading its yacht brokerage and charter division at Burger Yacht Sales. Thom's yachting career spans over 30 years. He is an avid sailor and held positions as captain, project manager, yacht builder, shipyard owner and superyacht broker.

Intermarine/SCAD Motorboat Project Nears Completion

Intermarine Savannah is helping students learn the art of yachtbuilding by offering its cast of experts as overseers in the creation of a 21-ft. motorboat, Intermarine Savannah has literally orchestrated its own hands-on textbook by assisting students from Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) to conceive, design and construct a unique pleasure-boat using the company’s materials and techniques. Aside from donating classroom space for the vessel’s construction process, Intermarine Savannah has provided thousands of dollars in materials and time spent with a student-crew of 24 undergraduates.
