Thomas Schulte Vessels Implements Port-IT Solutions

The maritime cybersecurity provider Port-IT said that Thomas Schulte Ship Management, a bulk and container company, has chosen Port-IT’s state of the art E-mail solution ‘Orilla Mail’ to fit their critical communication needs.According to a press release, Orilla Mail was developed as an independent shore managed E-mail solution that gives customers the power of choice, as they are no longer tied to one airtime provider. Featuring a fully integrated portal web-interface, the settings of Orilla Mail can easily be managed per vessel or per fleet. Grand Bahama Shipyard Stayed Busy in 2016

The Caribbean shipyard Grand Bahama Shipyard Limited (GBSL) worked on 49 commercial vessels and 20 cruise ships throughout 2016, with scope of works ranging from major steel fabrication and repairs, to engine and technical systems overhauls, hull treatment and tank cleanings. And looking to 2017 and beyond, the yard reports it has a healthy order book, with docking periods secured as far ahead as three years. VShips USA brought two bulk carriers, CSL Acadian and CSL Argosy, to GBSL to do tank cleaning on both vessels. CSL Acadian also received extensive pipe work.

Oldendorff Acquires 8 Vessels

In the Babycape segment, Oldendorff's London office usually operates around 30 vessels in its global network of trades. The company informed that it likes to have some owned vessels in every segment in which it operates to ensure more reliable and flexible service. The Babycape vessels were purchased from companies managed by Hartmann Reederei (Leer) and Thomas Schulte (Hamburg), and join three other Babycapes in the Oldendorff fleet which were  bought in summer 2016. The 119,000 tonners were built at Sinopacific, China and feature an attractive cargo intake at 14.5 m draft, Mewis fuel saving ducts, ballast water treatment systems, as well as Korean built B&W main engines and auxiliary engines. The Emma Schulte was delivered from Jiangnan, China in 2012.

Thomas Schulte, Ship Recycling Cert.

German shipping company Thomas Schulte is implementing the requirements of the Hong Kong Convention on Ship Recycling well in advance. Germanischer Lloyd (GL) has been contracted to issue certificates for the fleet of 33 existing and 18 new container vessels according to the new IMO Convention for the Safe and Environmentally Sound Recycling of Ships (Hong Kong Convention). The Hong Kong Convention adopted at a Diplomatic Conference in Hong Kong (May 2009), aims to improve standards of safety and environmental protection at recycling of ships. The Convention will require ships to have an Inventory of Hazardous Materials (IHM). The IHM is a ship specific document that lists all the materials onboard a ship that may be hazardous to people's health or the environment…

EPE to Prep Hazmat Inventory for Ship Recycling

Environmental Protection Engineering S.A. (EPE) attends to prepare the Inventory of Hazardous Materials (IHM) for the entire Reederei Thomas Schulte fleet (33 container vessels) according to the new IMO Convention for the Safe and Environmentally Sound Recycling of Ships (Hong Kong Convention). Reederei Thomas Schulte GmbH & Co. KG also signed a contract with Germanischer Lloyd AG about the certification of the IHMs. The Ship Recycling Convention adopted at a Diplomatic Conference in Hong Kong (May 2009), aims to improve standards of safety and reduce environmental pollution from the recycling of ships.
