The Trump administration this week will unveil the list of Chinese imports targeted for U.S. tariffs to punish Beijing over technology transfer policies, a move expected to intensify trade tensions between the world's two largest economies. The list of $50 billion to $60 billion worth of annual imports is expected to target "largely high-technology" products and it may be more than two months before tariffs take effect, administration officials have said. The U.S. Trade Representative's office needs to unveil the list of products by Friday under President Donald Trump's China tariff proclamation signed on March 22. The tariffs are aimed at forcing changes to Chinese government policies that USTR says results in the "uneconomic" transfer of U.S. intellectual property to Chinese companies.

General Dynamics NASSCO and Braemar LNG BV, a wholly owned subsidiary of Braemar Shipping Services PLC, have signed a technology licensing agreement for Braemar to use NASSCO’s intellectual property in its design and construction of Flat-Panel, Semi-Membrane, Prismatic-Shaped (FSP) LNG containment systems. FSP is a new multipurpose Type B flat-panel, semi-membrane, prismatic-shaped LNG tank-containment system which uses flat plate technology and a universal joint configuration.

Ocean Power Technologies, Inc. (OPT) and Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (MES) announced that they have signed a new agreement to cooperate in the development and commercialization of OPT's PowerBuoy technology. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) signs to allow the Korean company, SPP Machine Tech, to produce & market its cranes. The deck cranes to be licensed are two models, currently on the market, having a 36-ton hoisting capacity and a working radius of up to 26 and 28 meters, respectively. MHI will supply components for the cranes, including hydraulic machinery, to SPP Machine Tech. With this initiative, MHI aims at accelerating market penetration of MHI technology-based marine deck cranes in Korea. Before this, MHI licensed the technology to Jiangsu Masada Heavy Industries Co, Ltd.

Yichang Marine Diesel Engine Co., Ltd. (YMD), a group company of China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (CSIC), has completed production of its first Mitsubishi-UE low-speed marine diesel engine under a technology licensing arrangement with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI). YMD, located in Yichang, Hubei Province, is expected to complete three more Mitsubishi-UE engines within this year, with plans calling for progressive expansion of engine production going forward. The first Mitsubishi-UE engine completed by YMD is the 6UEC43LSII, featuring a power output of 6,300 kW or 8,580 PS (pferdestarke) at 160 rpm (revolutions per minute).

ConocoPhillips and Bechtel Corp. have agreed to renew their collaboration of pursuing worldwide liquefied natural gas (LNG) projects. The collaboration will build upon the recent success of ConocoPhillips as a major owner and participant in the worldwide LNG industry, and Bechtel's recent awards in the engineering and construction of major projects in Trinidad and Egypt. "The ConocoPhillips-Bechtel collaboration continues our commitment to providing our LNG technology while leveraging our position as a pre-eminent participant in the LNG industry worldwide," said Rick Hernandez, ConocoPhillips' manager of worldwide LNG technology licensing.
