Thuraya Telecommunications company, a subsidiary of the Al Yah Satellite Communications company (Yahsat), has partnered with ITC Global to set up Thuraya VSAT+, the ground-breaking maritime satellite service.ITC Global is a subsidiary of Panasonic Avionics Corporation. Thuraya Debuts Most Advanced Satellite Phone

Thuraya Telecommunications Company today launched the industry's most advanced satellite phone, the Thuraya XT-PRO. Targeted at professional users across a range of market sectors including government, energy, media and NGOs, the Thuraya XT-PRO is the only satellite phone to feature built-in GPS, BeiDou and Glonass for highest accuracy and added security in every region. The Thuraya XT-PRO has a talk-time of up to 9 hours, which is the longest on any satellite phone. It is jet-water, dust and shock resistant, ensuring it withstands the harshest environments. SpeedCast Partners to Expand Satellite Mobility Portfolio

SpeedCast International Limited has established a distributor agreement with Thuraya Telecommunications Company, a Mobile Satellite Services (MSS) operator. The new agreement brings new options for satellite mobility solutions for SpeedCast’s global customer base and expands SpeedCast’s mobility product portfolio. Under the agreement, SpeedCast will now have access to Thuraya’s portfolio of innovative mobile satellite products and services, including Thuraya SatSleeve, XT satellite phones, land and maritime broadband terminals.

SMART Communications Selects Thuraya for Crew Calling Service

Thuraya Telecommunications Company, a Mobile Satellite Services (MSS) operator, has been selected by SMART Communications of the Philippines for the launch of its new crew calling service, Marino PhonePal. The multiyear deal will see SMART partner with Thuraya on network services and hardware for its maritime voice service. Marino PhonePal is an expansion of SMART’s current crew calling service, from an existing Asia Pacific footprint now to include major sea lanes in Australia, New Zealand, Indian Ocean, Middle East, Africa and Europe.

Thuraya Appoints Regional Director N. America

Thuraya names Joseph R. Francis as Regional Director, North America to support the company's work in the government market sector. Mobile satellite services operator, Thuraya Telecommunications Company's new man will be based in the U.S. and will oversee business development and solidify Thuraya’s support of the government market. His areas of focus will include operations, management and support of service partners and identification of new market opportunities. Mr Francis has over a decade of experience in the satellite and aerospace industry, and has worked for companies such as Honeywell where he supported NASA programs and Loral. He joins Thuraya from SES where he held a variety of management and leadership roles focused on the U.S. Government market.

Thuraya Partners with T-Mobile to Launch Roaming Service in USA

Thuraya Telecommunications Company has launched its roaming service in the United States of America in partnership with the American mobile operator, T-Mobile. The service, which commenced on July 12, allows Thuraya subscribers to roam seamlessly with their Thuraya mobile numbers into the T-Mobile network that reaches 96 percent of Americans. Thuraya customers in the region can now make and receive calls, and also send and receive text messages (SMS). The Company’s GmPRS roaming service will be enabled afterwards on the T-Mobile network. New Maritime Satellite Voice Terminal

Thuraya Telecommunications Company unveiled today at CommunicAsia 2012 in Singapore its SF2500 maritime satellite voice terminal, developed jointly with partner Addvalue Communications Pte Ltd. Thuraya is using its existing success in providing satellite communications to more than 140 countries around the globe to diversify into selected vertical sectors.
