Seaspan Marine Names Reynolds President

Bart Reynolds has been hired to take over as president of Seaspan Marine, the company announced today. Appointed to lead Seaspan’s Marine Division, Reynolds joins the company with more than 20 years of experience in leadership positions and senior management. In the last 15 years, Reynolds has held positions in the offshore supply boat business in the United States, West Africa, the Mediterranean and Latin America, most recently serving as Vice President, Americas at GulfMark Offshore Inc. Prior to that, he worked at Tidewater Marine LLC as Area Manager, U.S. Operations.

Wärtsilä's Ballast Water System Earns USCG AMS Acceptance

Wärtsilä has been granted Alternate Management System (AMS) acceptance for its AQUARIUS UV Ballast Water Management System (BWMS) by the United States Coastguard (USCG). This allows all U.S. and foreign flag ships fitted with the Wärtsilä AQUARIUS UV BWMS to operate in U.S. territorial waters and to discharge its treated ballast water for an interim period of up to five years from the ship specific implementation date. AMS acceptance is the first stage towards obtaining full USCG type approval. Wärtsilä anticipates having all activities necessary to gain full U.S.

Leevac Acquires Quality Shipyards from Tidewater

LEEVAC Shipyards, LLC through its newly created subsidiary LEEVAC Shipyards Houma, LLC (LEEVAC) has completed the acquisition of substantially all assets of Quality Shipyards, Inc. (Quality) located at 3201 Earhart Street in Houma Louisiana from Tidewater Marine, LLC (NYSE: TDW). The acquisition of assets includes 35 acres of industrial property located on 2,500 feet of waterfront along the intracoastal waterway, 4 drydocks (the largest measuring 4,200 tons of capacity), 100,000 square feet of covered production facilities and several large track cranes.

Tidewater Orders Two LEEVAC Platform Supply Vessels

LEEVAC Shipyards Jennings LLC, Jennings, LA, announced it has signed contracts with Tidewater Marine, LLC of New Orleans, LA to build two LEEVAC Design Services “LDS ” Platform Supply Vessel (PSV), a 300’ x 62’ x 24’ diesel electric PSV with options for two additional vessels. The LDS 300 DE PSV will have a deadweight capacity of 5400 LTs and will carry more than 17,600 barrels of liquid mud. It will be powered by four Caterpillar Model 3516C Tier 3 IMO II Marine variable speed diesel propulsion generator sets rated at 2100kw each.

Six PSVs Feature Integrated MacGregor Deck Equipment Packages

In October Cargotec secured a comprehensive MacGregor offshore equipment contract for six platform supply vessels (PSVs) from Fujian Southeast Shipyard in China. The vessels are being built for leading US offshore support vessel owner, Tidewater Marine LLC, and the equipment is scheduled for delivery between the first and fourth quarters of 2013. Each 75m vessel will feature a MacGregor equipment package comprising a number of auxiliary winches such as anchor windlass, capstans and tugger winches, a single deck crane and a bulk handling system. "This type of cargo system has been well proven in service on over 60 ships and demonstrates Cargotec's ability to provide integrated ship-type solutions," says Francis Wong, Director of Sales and Marketing for Cargotec Marine's Offshore Segment.

Wärtsilä Wins Contract to Supply Aquarius UV

Wärtsilä has won a contract to supply ballast water management systems (BWMS) to four platform supply vessels (PSVs) for Tidewater Marine, L.L.C., a provider of offshore service vessels to the global energy industry. The scope of supply for the vessels, due for delivery from the Cosco (Guangdong) Shipyard in 2014, includes four 250m3/hr capacity Wärtsilä Aquarius UV BWMS, which will be assembled and shipped from Wärtsilä’s manufacturing facility in the UK. The contract was signed with Cosco shipyard in August.

Wärtsilä Wins PSV BWT Contract

Wärtsilä wins contract to supply AQUARIUS® UV ballast water management systems to four Tidewater Marine Platform Supply Vessels (PSV). The scope of supply for the vessels, due for delivery from the COSCO (Guangdong) Shipyard in 2014, includes four 250m3/hr capacity Wärtsilä AQUARIUS®UV BWMS, which will be assembled and shipped from Wärtsilä’s manufacturing facility in the UK. Ballast water treatment with the AQUARIUS® UV system is achieved through a two stage process. Upon uptake the sea water is first passed through a back washing filter (First stage). The filtered sea water then passes through a UV chamber (Second stage) where ultra-violet light is used to disinfect the water prior to entering the ballast tank.

Bay Shipbuilding Begins Steel-Cutting on Tidewater PSV

Fincantieri Marine Group (FMG) announced that its Bay Shipbuilding Company started steel-cutting on two 92.4-meter (303’) platform supply vessels (PSVs), of the MMC 887 LH PSV Design from MMC Ship Design of Poland, for New Orleans, La.-based Tidewater Marine, LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tidewater Inc. The deepwater PSVs are state-of-the-art diesel-electric Z-drive propulsion vessels with redundant dynamic positioning (DPS-2), polar class 7 (Ice Class PC 7), firefighting class 2 (Firefighting Vessel Class 2), and ENVIRO ABS notations.

Siemens to Power PSV Pair

Bay Shipbuilding in Sturgeon Bay, Wis., has awarded the Siemens Division Industry Solutions a multimillion Euro contract to equip two platform supply vessels (PSV) with a diesel electric propulsion system. The ships are being constructed by Tidewater Marine LLC, a Tidewater Inc. subsidiary. They are slated for delivery in the fourth quarter of 2012 and the second quarter of 2013 respectively. Siemens will outfit two new PSV of Tidewater Inc. with a Bluedrive multi-drive low-voltagepropulsion system. It is designed to improve reliability due to failsafe features that will help the vessel owner lower maintenance costs, increase efficiency and operational ease for the vessel and crew.

Bay Shipbuilding to Build PSV for Tidewater

Fincantieri Marine Group (FMG) announced that its Bay Shipbuilding Company will build two 303-ft Platform Supply Vessels (PSVs) of the MMC 887 LH PSV Design from MMC Ship Design of Poland for New Orleans, La.-based Tidewater Marine, LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tidewater Inc. The Deepwater Platform Supply Vessels, to be built at FMG’s shipyard Bay Shipbuilding Company, located in Sturgeon Bay, Wis., will be state-of-the-art vessels with diesel-electric z-drive propulsion, dynamic positioning 2 (DP-2) system, polar class 7, fire-fighting class 2 (FFV 2) system, and ENVIRO. Other contract terms were not disclosed. The first platform supply vessel is scheduled for delivery in the 4th Quarter of 2012…

Butterworth Award of Major Contract

Butterworth, Inc. announced that it has been awarded a major contract for an unspecified number of its Type LT series of tank cleaning machines from Fuijan Mawei Shipbuilding Limited in Fuzhou, China. The order is ultimately destined for 12 offshore supply vessels (OSV) being built for Tidewater Marine LLC of New Orleans, La. and an additional fuor OSVs for an unnamed client.  The contract is valued at over $400,000 and calls for regularly scheduled deliveries between now and December 2011.   (www.butterworth.com)
