Aker Solutions: Seventh Drilling Equipment Package to Brazil

Aker Solutions has won a contract to supply a complete drilling equipment package for a deepwater drillship Jurong Shipyard is building for the Brazilian market. The contract value is undisclosed. Earlier this year Aker Solutions announced a contract to supply six drilling equipment packages to Jurong Shipyard. The contract included an option for an additional drilling package, which the customer now has exercised. The contract includes complete topside and subsea equipment (drilling riser and blow-out preventer). The equipment will be delivered from Aker Solutions in Norway, Germany and Brazil. Aker Solutions is building a new $100m service and manufacturing facility in Macaé, Brazil's offshore capital, in order to meet expected growth.

Aker Wins Deepwater Drill Riser Contract

Aker Solutions contracted by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) to supply deepwater drilling riser. The 10 000 ft deepwater drilling CLIP riser system will be manufactured and delivered out of Aker Solutions' manufacturing plant in Port Klang, Malaysia. Delivery of the drilling riser system is scheduled for November 2014. The contract value is undisclosed. The delivery is related to the second of two options included in the drilling riser contract announced in July 2011.

Aker Solutions Opens New UK Office

With the opening of its Stockton-on-Tees engineering office Aker aims to create up to 100 jobs in NE England. Aker Solutions' drilling technologies business will be the main occupant in the new office, which is located right next to the company's current premises at the Preston Farm industrial estate, Stockton-on-Tees, UK. The office will house product engineers who will be working on a wide range of topside drilling equipment. Aker Solutions is one of the top-two global suppliers of deepwater drilling packages for offshore drilling rigs and drillships.

Aker Solutions Wins Drilling Riser Contract

Aker Solutions has won a contract to deliver a deepwater drilling riser system to Atwood Oceanics, the drilling operator. The contract value is undisclosed. The deepwater drilling riser system will be manufactured and delivered from Aker Solutions' manufacturing plant in Port Klang, Malaysia. "We are very pleased to be delivering an Aker Solutions CLIP riser system to Atwood for the fifth time," says Thor Arne Håverstad, head of Aker Solutions' drilling technologies business. The drilling riser system is scheduled to be delivered in the autumn of 2013. Aker Solutions has previously delivered risers to the Atwood Osprey and Atwood Condor drilling units. Another two drilling riser systems are currently being produced for the Atwood Advantage and Atwood Achiever units.

ABB Wins $80 million Order From Samsung Heavy Industries

ABB recently won an order worth $80 million from Samsung Heavy Industries to supply energy efficient drives, motors and electrical power systems for five drilling vessels and two liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers to be built at Samsung’s shipyard in Korea. The vessels will be used to extract, process and transport oil and gas. The order was booked in the second quarter of 2012. Samsung Heavy Industries, a branch of the giant South-Korean holding, focuses its shipyard business on a wide range of large vessel types, including LNG carriers, drill ships and semi-submersible drilling rigs.

ABB Wins Electrical Contract for Drillships, LNG Carriers

ABB's order, worth $80 million from Samsung Heavy Industries, is to supply energy efficient drives, motors and electrical power systems for five drilling vessels and two liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers to be built at Samsung’s shipyard in Korea. The vessels will be used to extract, process and transport oil and gas. Samsung is building five drill ships (three for Seadrill Ltd. in Norway, one for Pacific Drilling S.A in Brazil and one for Ensco Plc in the UK) and two LNG carrier vessels for Golar LNG Ltd in the UK. The vessels will be used for oil and gas exploration and the transportation of liquefied natural gas. ABB will deliver the complete electrical system for the seven vessels…

Aker Solutions Wins Jack-up Drilling Contract

Aker Solutions has won a contract from Yantai CIMC Raffles Offshore Ltd to supply a complete drilling equipment package for a new jack-up drilling rig, being built by the Chinese yard. The contract value is undisclosed. The new rig is of the 2000E jack-up design, and the contract includes options for a further three jack-up rigs of the same design. "We are pleased to see Aker Solutions' competitive position in the jack-up market, which we expect to be active in the future," says Thor Arne Håverstad, head of drilling technologies in Aker Solutions. The equipment will be delivered in 2013.

Contract value is undisclosed. The development of the Cat D semi-submersible drilling rigs has been initiated by Statoil, the international energy company. The Cat D drilling rig is a new generation drilling and well intervention vessel, purpose made for the needs for North Sea operations.

The contract value is undisclosed. The development of the Cat D semi-submersible drilling rigs has been initiated by Statoil, the international energy company. The Cat D drilling rig is a new generation drilling and well intervention vessel, purposely made for the needs for North Sea operations. The first contract, for two drilling equipment packages, was announced in the summer of 2011. Now, the customers have exercised options for another two equipment packages. The two units will be delivered in 2015.

Aker Solutions Wins Drilling Riser Contract

Aker Solutions has been awarded a contract by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) for the delivery of a deepwater drilling riser system to the DSME shipyard in South Korea. The riser package will be installed on Atwood Oceanics, Inc.'s ultra-deepwater drillship, the Atwood Advantage. The contract value is approximately $48 million. The 10 000 ft deepwater drilling riser system will be manufactured and delivered out of Aker Solutions' manufacturing plant in Port Klang, Malaysia. Delivery of the drilling riser system is scheduled for March 2014.

Aker Solution's new state-of-the-art drilling equipment simulator

International oil services group Aker Solutions is about to open North America's most advanced drilling equipment simulator in Houston, Texas. The simulator will be available to rig operators with the objective of making offshore drilling operations safer and more cost effective. Aker Solutions is investing USD 2.5 million in the new state-of-the-art drilling equipment simulator, which will be available 24/7 for North American based rig operators and oil companies. It will double the capacity of the current training centre located in Katy near Houston.

Aker Solutions Wins Contract

Aker Solutions received a Letter of Award from Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME), to supply two drilling equipment packages to the new 'Cat D' drilling rigs the yard is building for the rig operator Songa Offshore. Options (if exercised) for two additional units are included. Contract value is undisclosed. The development of the two Cat D semi-submersible drilling rigs has been initiated by Statoil, the international energy company, which awarded two long-term contracts for the units to Songa in July 2011. The first two units will be delivered in 2014, and the main deliveries from Aker Solutions will take place in 2012 and 2013. The contract includes topside drilling equipment, procurement and commissioning of the rigs at the DSME yard.
