Skangas, Statoil Pact for LNG Reload at Klaipeda
Skangas signed an agreement with Statoil, the Norwegian oil and gas company, for a small-scale LNG reload to take place at the Klaipeda LNG Terminal in Lithuania. The reload will take place early January 2017. This will be the first reload conducted at the terminal and it is the first time Skangas source LNG from Statoil. Skangas eyes this a natural next step to further increase the support for the development of the small-scale market in Northern Europe. Adding this Terminal increases possibilities and competition, which also gives security of supply and all parties’ better opportunities. Skangas Secures Framework Agreement with Statoil
Skangas has entered into an agreement with Statoil for delivery of liquefied natural gas (LNG) fuel for their platform supply vessels (PSV). The LNG will be delivered to several bases along the Norwegian west coast by ship. Skangas will in addition deliver LNG to Statoil’s tugs at Kårstø. The agreement is valid from 1 April 2017 until the end of 2020 with an option for two plus two years. The supply bases are located at Mongstad, Florø (Saga Fjordbase) and Kristiansund (Vestbase). The agreement between Statoil and Skangas was a result of a comprehensive tendering process involving several LNG suppliers in the Norwegian market. “We see this agreement as a recognition of our daily work and a confirmation of a good relationship with Statoil”, says Tor Morten Osmundsen, CEO of Skangas.
Skangas Aquires Risavika LNG
Skangas, a unit of Gasum, signed a deal with Lyse Group to acquire the Risavika liquefied natural gas (LNG)production facility in Norway. The acquisition of the Risavika production plant will strengthen Skangas’s presence in the downstream of the LNG value chain and secure Skangas’s commercial position in the Norwegian market and North Sea. The Risavika production plant has an annual production capacity of 300,000 tonnes of liquefied natural gas (LNG), and the volume of its tank is 30,000 cbm. The acquisition also includes the LNG marine bunkering facility. “Under the tolling agreement signed in 2014, we have bought the full annual capacity of the Risavika LNG plant. The acquisition of the plant puts the final pieces in place in the overall acquisition of Skangas.
Nordics First Bunkering Station for LNG
Skangas announced that the first ever bunkering station for liquefied natural gas (LNG) in the Nordics is open and operating successfully. The new bunkering station fuels Fjord Line’s cruise ferries, which are the first - and largest - in the world to use "single fueled LNG engines," meaning that they are powered exclusively by LNG. Loading arm is a well-known method of transferring cargo for large oil and LNG terminals. According to Skangas, this is the first loading arm ever developed purely for bunkering. LNG ships have normally been bunkered via hose connections from a truck or a tank. Widely recognized as a safer transfer method, a loading arm can provide a much higher rate of transfer.
