Jensen Tapped to Head Caprock Maritime Division

Pal Jensen was named president of Caprock Communication’s Maritime Division. Jensen, a telecommunications industry veteran, moves into this role from his former position as the company’s vice president of Maritime Sales. In his new role, Jensen will oversee all aspects of the Commercial Maritime Division, including sales, solution design, and global service and support. Jensen replaces Tore Hilde who was the former president of Maritime.

Telenor Launches New Service

Telenor Satellite Services today announced the commercial launch of Telenor Fleet F55, the first high-speed data solution available for coastal and regional vessels and large yachts. The company also announced that it plans to commercially launch the third member of the Inmarsat Fleet family, Fleet F33, by the end of November. The two new services provide small to medium-sized vessels a powerful communications solution incorporating global voice and a range of data and fax services. Telenor Fleet F55 service offers maritime customers high-speed data communications, at up to 64kbps, in smaller equipment suitable for smaller vessels. Telenor Launches Marlink

Telenor Satellite Services announced that it has formed a new company, Marlink, to provide a wide range of mobile satellite communication services, mainly for customers in the maritime sector. Marlink will act as a 'multi-supplier' of mobile satellite airtime providing communication services from a number of suppliers, including but not limited to Telenor. Marlink will also provide traffic accounting services, hardware and value-added services. Telenor Selected as Premier Provider

Telenor Satellite Services was chosen as a premier service provider of the next generation of mobile satellite communications, Inmarsat's Broadband Global Area Network (BGAN). BGAN, currently planned for commercial launch in 2005, will offer high-speed circuit-switched and packet data services, plus voice telephony, via a portfolio of small, lightweight user terminals. The enhanced capabilities of the BGAN system are made possible through a new generation of satellites, known as Inmarsat 4, the first of which was successfully launched in March 2005, and is now being prepared to begin service. The Inmarsat 4 generation of satellites will be the most powerful communication satellites ever launched by any commercial organization.

Telenor BGAN Service Ready for Launch

Telenor Satellite Services, a subsidiary of Telenor of Norway announced the completion of all Inmarsat requirements -- technical, commercial and distribution -- necessary for the successful launch of BGAN. Inmarsat BGAN is the world's first global, mobile service to provide voice and broadband data simultaneously. BGAN is the latest addition to the Telenor Portfolio of Broadband, On Demand and Value Added Services.
