Torvald Klaveness and Marubeni Expand Partnership

After three successful years as joint partners of Baumarine by MaruKlav, the world's largest Panamax Pool, Marubeni will take a 25% stake of Klaveness Dry Bulk.The deal includes the operating arm Klaveness Chartering, the Baumarine Pool and Market Manager, a recently commercialized digital freight offering."The Torvald Klaveness group and Klaveness Dry Bulk have delivered significant results, not only for the Marubeni fleet, but also for Panamax owners in Baumarine by MaruKlav as a whole,” said Toru Okazaki, Chief Operating Officer, Aerospace & Ship Division of Marubeni Corporation.

Marubeni Taps 'Suction Sails' for Bulk Carrier

MMSL PTE. LTD., a wholly owned subsidiary of Marubeni Corporation based in Singapore signed an agreement with bound4blue to install four suction sails on the Crimson Kingdom, making it the first wind-assisted vessel owned by Marubeni. According to the preliminary studies, the 229-m Panamax bulk carrier will be retrofitted in 2023/24 with four 26-m eSAILs, expected to be the largest suction sails ever built and installed on a vessel. Baksaas Appointed DNV GL’s Chair of the Board

Former Telenor CEO Jon Fredrik Baksaas has been appointed as DNV GL’s new chair of the board, the Norwegian-headquartered classification society announced.Best known for his 13-year tenure as president and CEO of the telecoms firm, Baksaas started his career with DNV (as it was then known) and spent six years at the company before leaving in 1985. He has also served as member of the DNV Council for 12 years.“DNV GL is a company that is well positioned to take a role as a trusted voice to tackle the global transformations the world is facing.
