Beale Named VP of Human Resources & Trades at Newport News Shipbuilding

Xavier Beale New VP at Newport News Shipbuilding

Huntington Ingalls Industries  announced  the promotion of Xavier Beale to vice president of trades at the company’s Newport News Shipbuilding division. He will succeed Ray Bagley, a master shipbuilder who retired in July after more than 43 years of service.In this role, Beale, who most recently served as director of human resources operations, will be responsible for production trades, trades management, trades administration and The Apprentice School. He will report directly to Matt Needy, Newport News’ vice president of operations.“Xavier brings knowledge and experience as well as a unique personal and professional perspective,” said Newport News Shipbuilding President Jennifer Boykin. “He is a second-generation shipbuilder with a close connection to our workforce.

Northrop Grumman Makes New Appointment

Northrop Grumman Corporation has appointed Ann Fortenberry vice president of trades management, training and development for the company's Ship Systems sector, effective March 20. In her new assignment, Fortenberry will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of workforce supply-chain strategies; managing ship-programs workforce allocations; developing workforce training programs to meet skill, quality and performance requirements; and assessing the long-term needs of the production workforce and supervision to meet future-construction strategic requirements. Fortenberry began her career at Ingalls Shipbuilding (acquired by Northrop Grumman in 2001) in 1969 and has over 35 years of human resources experience including 20 years in management.
