Petrobras Moves European Commercial Activities from London to Rotterdam

Brazilian oil giant Petrobras will concentrate its European commercial activities in Rotterdam. This will result in the transfer of Petrobras Europe Ltd.’s commercial activities from London, England to Petrobras Global Trading B.V. in Rotterdam. The change will start in the next quarter and must be completed by the second half of 2021.The focus on Rotterdam is in line with the Petrobras policy of rationalizing its international presence in 2021, taking into account the world’s three major oil markets: Europe, North America and Asia.

Two Options for Rotor Tugs

Kooren Shipbuilding and Trading B.V. declared their option for two 92.8 ft. (28.3 m) RT-60 class Rotor tugs to be built at ASL Shipyard in Singapore. The tugs will have a bollard pull capacity in excess of 65 metric tons each. Delivery of the tugs will be during the month of December 2005. Both tugs will be powered by three Wärtsilä 8L20 engines of 1440 kW each at 1000 rpm. The three azimuth thrusters will also come from Wärtsilä /Lips, they are of the FS200/2100 HR CP type. The tugs will be classed by Lloyds Register and will be equipped with firefighting capabilities of not less than 1,200 cbm/hr. The main dimensions of the tug are as follows:

Two Tugs Christened in Germany

Kotug International BV said that the last two out of a series of four Rotortugs have been christened by Kotug International BV during a small ceremony in the port of Hamburg last weekend. The 65 tons bollard pull RT Antonie and RT Zoë were built at the ASL Marine Shipyard in Singapore through Kooren Shipbuilding and Trading BV the holder of the successful Rotortug patent. The RT Antonie is named after the nephew of Kotug's CEO Ard-Jan Kooren and was christened by sponsor lady Anne Lusher, wife of Martin Lusher, partner with SSY in London and representative for Kotug International BV. The RT Zoë is named after the sponsor lady Zoë Kooren daughter of Ard-Jan and Chrisje Kooren. The RT Antonie is the 7th tug in the Kotug fleet in the port of Bremerhaven.

Three RT 80r Rotor Tugs

Kooren Shipbuilding and Trading B.V. announced the sale of three of itsnewly to be build RT-80r class to Bugsier-, Reederei-, und Bergungsgesellschaft mbH & Co. KG. These Rotor tugs are to be built at ASL Shipyard Pte Ltd. in Singapore. The tugs will have a bollard pull capacity of 80 metric tons each. The high bollard pull and comparable low draft, has been a decisive factor of placing this order with Kooren Shipbuilding and Trading B.V. Delivery of the tugs will be between November 2007 and mid 2008. All three tugs will be powered by three Wärtsilä 8L20C engines of min. 1600 kW each at 1000 rpm. The three azimuth thrusters will come from Wärtsilä/Lips Propulsion Systems, they are of the CS225-S/WN-K 2300 CP type in HR nozzles.

Michael Carthew, President, Chevron Texaco Shipping and Dean Taylor, President and CEO, Tidewater Marine were elected to the ABS Board of Directors, by the ABS Council, following yesterday's Annual Members Meeting of the classification society in New York. General Dynamics announced the appointment of John F. "Dugan" Shipway, 60, as president of Bath Iron Works, reporting to Michael W. Toner, executive vice president of General Dynamics Marine Systems group. Shipway succeeds Allan C. Cameron, 57, who has announced his retirement. Cameron had been president of Bath Iron Works since 1996. Edwin W. Stephan, a founder and former longtime president and vice chairman of Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd., will retire from the Board of Directors following the company's May 20 annual meeting in Miami.

Chemoil / All Round Fuel Trading Debut New Barge

The 6,745 metric tonne (mt) Maxima is now operational in Rotterdam. The Maxima represents the future for European bunker supplies. The double-hulled tanker barge was launched in Rotterdam of the Maxima. Jointly owned by bunker supplier Chemoil / All Round Fuel Trading BV (Chemoil/ARFT), fuel oil transportation company FTS/Hofftrans, and shipbuilder Breko Nieuwbouw under the name Maxima Tankers BV, the Maxima will begin operations on April 29.
