Transas, one of the world's leading providers of integrated navigation solutions, received ECDIS type-approval from the Korean Registry (Korea Marine Equipment Research Institute), making Transas one of a few companies holding an ECDIS certificate from the South Korean maritime authority. The certificate issued by the Korea Marine Equipment Research Institute proves the system's compliance with all ECDIS-related regulations valid for the South Korean Flag state and covers not only Navi-Sailor ECDIS in Premium and Standard configurations, but also all Transas supplementary components for usability benefits and system integration. All tests were successfully passed within one week at the certified Transas R&D facilities.

From countries across the globe, including Australia, Canada, the U.S. and Europe, more than 500 exhibitors will be at Seawork International, the commercial marine exhibition and conference, opening on Tuesday, June 10 for its annual three-day run in the ABP Port of Southampton, U.K. More than 7,000 visitors are expected to attend Seawork, which will feature products and services relevant to every sector of the commercial marine industry, including offshore wind farm construction and maintenance…

ECDIS manufacturer Transas Marine was awarded a contract for the supply of Dual ECDIS to ULTRAGAS, an ULTRANAV company and owner and operator of highly specialized vessels for transportation of Liquefied Petroleum Gases (LPG) and petro-chemical gases with years of experience in this demanding segment of shipping. As a part of the contract, ULTRAGAS has ordered Dual Navi-Sailor ECDIS Multifunction Display (MFD) sets with Radar overlay for installation on board of five additional vessels.

The updated version of the globally renowned voyage planning software Navi-Planner 4000 received additional functions, boosting versatility and convenience. The Transas Navi-Planner 4000 software is recognized as one of the ECDIS market’s most powerful charts and data management tools, and also boasts a set of databases, applications and services intended for every step of voyage planning. In addition to working with the Transas Admiralty Data Service (TADS), the new version of the Transas Navi-Planner is now optimized to handle ADMIRALTY Vector Chart Service (AVCS) charts and permits.

Transas Marine has won the Italian tender of "Consorzio degli armatori del mediterraneo" for supply of navigation equipment for 64 vessels. "Consorzio degli armatori del mediterraneo" is the Italian Shipowners Research Consortium which consists of 6 shipowners (Augusta Due, Marnavi, L.G.R. di Navigazione, Gestioni Armatoriali, Elbana di Navigazione, Perseveranza). According to the contract, Transas dual Navi-Sailor 4000 ECDIS Premium systems will be installed onboard of 64 oil/chemical tanker and bulk carrier vessel.

Transas Hellas will supply ECDIS and Official Charts to Hellenic Carriers Corporation S.A. according to agreement recently signed between two companies. Hellenic Carriers Corporation’s fleet will be equipped with the Transas Navi-Sailor 4000 ECDIS in premium configuration and Transas Admiralty Data Service (TADS) providing a comprehensive and official chart data service. All vessels will shift to paperless navigation immediately after installation is completed. The first two new built vessels have been already commissioned and now sail on the Transas ECDIS.

Transas Hellas has recently agreed with Minerva Marine Inc. to equip its fleet with ECDIS and official charts aiming to shift within a specified timeframe to paperless navigation. In addition to the premium line of Transas ECDIS and Transas Admiralty Data Service TADS (official ENCs), Minerva Marine has decided to deploy additional back up arrangements both for hardware and software, including Transas TX-97 vector charts. Five vessels of the fleet have already been commissioned and are currently implementing the transition procedures from paper to paperless navigation. Minerva Marine Inc.

Transas marks the fifth anniversary of its Transas Admiralty  Data Service (TADS) providing a comprehensive and official chart data service to the market. Transas, an ECDIS manufacturer, in conjunction with the United Kingdom Hydrographic Office (UKHO) launched Transas Admiralty Data Service (TADS) in 2008. TADS is based on 100% official ENC data from the UKHO converted in SENC format and optimized for use on Transas ECDIS. Since its launch, TADS has evolved into a complete set of data services required by mariners for voyage planning and navigation purposes, and today it’s far more than just official ENC data service. TADS now includes Admiralty digital publications, weather services and Admiralty  Information Overlay with T&P Notices to Mariners.

Having initiated ECDIS program by fitting Transas dual ECDIS on the entire fleet back in early 2006 when ECDIS regulation was only a long-term plan, Arcadia Shipmanagement has teamed up again with Transas Hellas in order to conclude the program and shift its fleet to paperless navigation. All dual ECDIS installed on the vessels will be fully upgraded to exceed the latest carriage requirement by deploying official charts (Transas Admiralty Data Service), Transas precise navigation tools and chart handling system.

Nine vessels are already equipped with Transas Navi-Sailor 4000 Dual ECDIS and Transas Admiralty Data Service TADS (Official SENC), and sail paperless. 2 more vessels will be fitted with Navi-Sailor ECDIS and TADS in spring 2013. TRANSERV is a Support and Maintenance program from Transas Marine that includes 24/7 service coordination, charts ordering, software updates and preventive maintenance. With TRANSERV, navigation systems onboard of Navigazione Montanari vessels will be always up-to-date, compliant with the latest standards and rules, support changes in chart format and will ensure easy interface to other bridge systems.

Transas received approval for the ‘Pa-As-You-Sail’ service by PRIMAR and IC-ENC after succesful sea trials and verification by Det Norske Veritas (DNV). Traditionally, the navigator has to select and purchase charts prior to each voyage, using what is commonly called a  pre-licensing method. With Transas PAYS solution, the vessel will have a license and access to install, view and pre-plan using official (S)ENC’s, where the necessary PAYS permissions have been obtained without additional cost. With the new solution, recording and reporting of charts used is done with extraction from the TransasNavi-Sailor4000 ECDIS logbook. Vessels only pay for charts actually used for navigation monitoring.

Traditionally the navigator has to select and purchase charts prior to each voyage using what is commonly called pre-licensing method. With Transas PAYS solution the vessel will have a license and access to install, view and pre-plan using official (S)ENC's without additional cost. What's unique with Transas "Pay As You Sail" solution is that recording and reporting of charts used is done with extraction from Transas Navi-Sailor 4000 ECDIS logbook.

Transas Marine has been chosen by Telaccount Overseas Ltd. as a partner for ECDIS retrofit program for Bernard Schulte Shipmanagement (BSM). BSM is a global leader in quality Shipmanagement with 320 vessel under technical management and additional 300 under crewing management. According to agreement, Transas Marine will supply its Navi-Sailor ECDIS 4000 Multifunction Display system with numerous additional options, like recently launched Transas Bridge Link (firewall system) and Admiralty Information Overlay with T&P Notices. Transas Admiralty Data Service (TADS) which is an official SENC service will be supplied to the part of the fleet. Transas will provide crew training and service support.

The UKHO today announced another simple way to view the most accurate and up-to-date navigational charts, with the release of SevenCs ORCA Master Electronic Chart System (ECS) compatible with the Admiralty Information Overlay. The Overlay, brings the latest navigational updates from Admiralty to an ECDIS or ECS to help make digital navigation safer, more efficient and fully compliant. Available from Admiralty, the Overlay is now compatible with both Transas and SevenCs systems. Transas was the first to announce availability via the Transas Admiralty Data Service (TADS), and the UKHO is also working with other major ECDIS manufacturers to ensure the Admiralty Information Overlay can be displayed on their systems. Further availability will be announced in the next few months.

Transas announced that the Transas Navi-Sailor is the first ECDIS in the market compatible with the new Admiralty Information Overlay. The Overlay includes all Temporary and Preliminary Notices to Mariners (T&P NMs) and provides navigationally significant information from UKHO’s ENC validation programme. The overlay is displayed as a single layer on top of the basic ENC and it will be available within the standard Transas Admiralty Data Service (TADS) license, via the Transas Navi-Sailor ECDIS.
